Job Description
Introduction to Role
Are you a neurologist ready to lead a first-of-its-kind CAR-T cell therapy study that could redefine care for people living with multiple sclerosis?
In this Study Physician role, you will serve as the study-level medical authority for a global, multi-cohort program in relapsing and progressive MS, directly shaping how novel immune therapies are delivered and assessed.
Based at our state-of-the-art Kendall Square site in Cambridge, MA, you will work at the center of a world-leading life sciences ecosystem with direct access to collaborators, technology and patients.
You will partner closely with clinical scientists and cross-functional experts to keep patient safety at the forefront while driving decisive, data-led progress. Do you want to influence dose-escalation decisions, guide benefit-risk assessments and engage top MS investigators to accelerate a therapy that could change the trajectory of disease?
Accountabilities
Medical Leadership and Study Design: Own the medical design, delivery and interpretation of a multi-cohort CAR-T study in MS, ensuring integrity, compliance with GCP and fast, well-reasoned decisions that move the program forward.
Medical Monitoring Across the Patient Journey: Serve as medical monitor from eligibility review through apheresis, infusion and long-term follow-up, ensuring patient safety and clinical consistency across global sites.
Safety Assessment and Governance: Lead assessment of adverse events, including CRS, ICANS, cytopenias and infections; guide dose-escalation, dose-hold and stopping-rule decisions within delegated authority; and represent the study at safety committees and internal governance.
Data Synthesis and Decision-Making: Continuously review safety, efficacy, biomarkers and data-quality trends to detect signals early, shape study adaptations and ensure robust, decision-ready data.
Clinical Adjudication: Adjudicate complex MS events, including relapse and disability progression, to secure consistent, high-quality endpoints.
Scientific Documents and Results: Provide final medical review of protocols, amendments, ICFs, IB, SAPs and CSRs; lead medical interpretation of results; and contribute to clear, compelling regulatory documentation.
External Engagement and Influence: Build strong relationships with investigators and MS experts; support investigator meetings; and contribute to regulatory interactions to align stakeholders around study priorities.
Cross-Functional Strategy: Bring MS expertise to clinical pharmacology, translational medicine, regulatory, biostatistics, safety and CMC partners to integrate science, operations and strategy.
Matrix Leadership and Mentorship: Lead through influence, escalate risks transparently and mentor colleagues to raise the bar on medical quality and delivery.
Portfolio Contribution: Provide medical input to additional neuroimmunology indications and studies as the pipeline evolves, ensuring learnings scale beyond a single program.
Essential Skills/Experience
MD or equivalent (PhD a plus), with board certification in neurology and substantive clinical experience in multiple sclerosis.
Clinical research experience, including hands-on involvement in the design or delivery of clinical studies.
Sound knowledge of MS trial methodology and endpoints (EDSS, relapses, MRI), biostatistics principles, and FDA, EMA and ICH GCP requirements.
Ability to influence across a matrix and communicate complex decisions clearly, with a track record of delivering results.
Desirable Skills/Experience
Biotech or pharmaceutical clinical-development experience, including oversight of industry-sponsored studies (strongly preferred).
- Experience with CAR-T, other cell therapies or B-cell-depleting therapies in MS or other autoimmune diseases.
- Experience in early-phase or first-in-human studies, including dose escalation.
- Ability to travel nationally and internationally.
