About this role

As a Neurocritical Care Physician / Neurointensivist, you will work with a high-performing, patient-centered team committed to providing quality care and excellent patient experience.

Intermountain Medical Center (IMED) is Intermountain Health’s flagship hospital, based in Salt Lake City, Utah and is a Joint Commission Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, Level 1 Trauma Center, Level 4 Epilepsy Center, Joint Commission Certified Spine Center. IMED supports neuroscience academic research and has foundational support, ranked as a top hospital by U. S. News and World Reports, 5-star CMS ranking and, Leapfrog grade A.

  • You will have an amazing opportunity to grow professionally and personally. Neurointensivists will:
  • Provide primary coverage for the 24-bed IMED Neurocritical Care Unit
  • Provide inpatient neurocritical care consults in IMED medical/surgical/trauma/thoracic ICUs
  • Provide Tele-Neurocritical Care (TNCC) Services for hospitals throughout the Intermountain system

Collaborate with Neurosurgeons, Neurohospitalists, Interventional Neuroradiology, Critical Care Medicine, Neurorehabilitation, and Trauma Services

Have a flexible schedule with a mix of days and nights; 24-hour attending in-house NCC coverage with APP support

Enjoy full ownership of patients in the closed NCCU, including aSAH, ICH, LVO stroke, etc.

Work with national leaders in our TNCC practice model; via international collaborative efforts Intermountain has established benchmarks for best-form TNCC, and this is reflected in the 2025 Neurocritical Care Society Guideline

Opportunity to teach medical students, residents, and fellows

Option to lead and collaborate with national leaders in health implantation research science via Intermountain’s Health Care Delivery Institute (HDI)

Option to participate in clinical research, ongoing clinical trials for stroke, ICH, and SAH

Top of the line equipment for intubations, point of care ultrasound, line placement, and bronchoscopy; 24/7 echo and A line team

What you’ll bring

  • Board Certified/Eligible in neurocritical care (UCNS or ACGME)
  • Unrestricted Utah MD or DO license or the ability to obtain an unrestricted license

U. S. ACGME Neurology Residency

  • ACLS and BLS certifications
  • DEA
  • Ability to successfully complete Intermountain Health’s credentialing process

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

Candidates must be Board Certified or Eligible in neurocritical care (UCNS or ACGME) and hold an unrestricted Utah MD or DO license. Additional requirements include U.S. ACGME Neurology Residency, ACLS, BLS, and DEA certifications.
