Job Description

Pediatric Cardiologist | Fetal Echocardiography | Des Moines, Iowa

Build a rewarding pediatric cardiology practice without giving up the time and balance you want outside of medicine.

The Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Children’s Nebraska is seeking a board-eligible or board-certified Pediatric Cardiologist with fetal echocardiography expertise to join our established Des Moines practice. Physicians at any career stage are encouraged to consider the opportunity.

Why Physicians Should Take a Closer Look

  • Sustainable call: 1:4 call that is typically low volume and primarily managed by phone.
  • Established colleagues: Join a stable team of four pediatric cardiologists with shared responsibilities.
  • Strong subspecialty backup: Access extensive pediatric cardiology expertise in Omaha, including interventional cardiology, advanced imaging, electrophysiology, heart failure and transplant, pulmonary hypertension, exercise physiology and adult congenital heart disease.
  • Expand your impact without constant travel: Remote echo interpretation and outreach opportunities extend the practice's reach while limiting excessive travel.
  • The best of both settings: Build your practice in Des Moines with the autonomy of a community-based team and the resources, subspecialty expertise, and support of a large academic pediatric cardiology program.

Why Des Moines

Des Moines offers an exceptional quality of life that enables physicians and their families to thrive professionally and personally.

With affordable housing, highly rated schools, short commute times, and a welcoming Midwestern culture, physicians have more time to spend with family, pursue hobbies, and enjoy life outside of work.

Whether you prefer vibrant urban amenities, outdoor recreation, youth activities, or weekend travel, Des Moines provides the accessibility and balance that many physicians seek but rarely find.

We are committed to increasing diversity in our organizations to reflect the population that we serve and encourage applications from all candidates who will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the institution.

Nominations, expressions of interest and applications (including cover letter and CV/resume) should be submitted to: Dr. Jeffrey W. Delaney (jdelaney@childrensnebraska.org [jdelaney@childrensnebraska.org]), Division chief of pediatric cardiology, and/or Jacki Nun, LCSW, Administrator, Physician & Faculty Recruitment at jnun@childrensnebraska.org [jnun@childrensnebraska.org] or 712.251.7444. All replies will be treated with confidentiality.
