Job Description

You care deeply about your students. Your team should care deeply about you.

Who We Are

Chatterboxes was founded by an SLP who believes great clinical work starts with connection, collaboration, and a commitment to the people doing the work.

We're building a clinical community where SLPs feel supported, have room to grow, and know they have a team behind them. Whether working in schools, communities, or virtually, our clinicians are connected by a shared commitment to thoughtful, relationship-centered care.

Through our Sanctuary Model, we prioritize meaningful relationships, regular conversations with clinical leaders, and opportunities to learn from and connect with fellow SLPs. We believe you should have space to ask questions, share ideas, work through challenges, and celebrate the wins along the way.

At Chatterboxes, meaningful clinical work and a sustainable career belong together.

Who You Are

You're an SLP who cares about the quality of your work and the relationships you build along the way.

You value a neurodiversity-affirming approach to care, recognizing and respecting each student's individual strengths, communication style, and way of experiencing the world. You understand that communication looks different for everyone and believe our role is to support meaningful connection, participation, and self-advocacy, not to make every student communicate the same way.

You bring thoughtful clinical judgment, enjoy collaboration, and appreciate an environment where asking questions, sharing ideas, and continuing to grow are encouraged.

You don't have to have every answer. We're looking for someone who is curious, dependable, and invested in doing good work.

What the Role Looks Like

We're looking for a full-time Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team for an established elementary school placement in Virginia.

You'll support an existing school caseload. You'll have the opportunity to build relationships with students and school staff while maintaining continuity of services throughout the placement.

About the Placement

  • Location: Virginia
  • Schedule: Full-time, following the district's school calendar
  • Setting: Elementary school
  • Service delivery: The current service arrangement includes virtual services Monday–Friday.

What You'll Do

  • Provide individualized and small-group speech-language therapy.
  • Complete evaluations and contribute to eligibility decisions.
  • Develop and implement IEP goals, monitor student progress, and maintain appropriate documentation.
  • Collaborate with the other SLP to coordinate services, evaluations, and student needs.
  • Partner with teachers, families, and the special education team to support communication skills across the school environment.
  • Help maintain consistency and continuity of care throughout the placement.
  • Provide individualized, neurodiversity-affirming services that respect students' communication preferences, support autonomy, and prioritize functional communication and meaningful participation.
  • What You Can Expect at ChatterboxesA clinical community where connection matters.

We care about more than where you work and what you accomplish. We care about how it feels to do this work.

Our Sanctuary Model is built around the belief that clinicians do their best work when they feel connected, supported, and invested in. That means making time for meaningful conversations, clinical collaboration, and relationships that extend beyond your caseload.

Here's What That Looks Like

A Sanctuary Leader in your corner: Monthly 1:1 conversations focused on your experiences, challenges, professional growth, and wellbeing.

A clinical community: Opportunities to connect with fellow SLPs, exchange ideas, ask questions, and work through clinical decisions together.

Leadership that listens: An SLP founder and clinical leaders who value clinician perspectives and stay connected to the realities of clinical work.

Connection beyond the caseload: Optional coffee conversations, regional gatherings, and virtual opportunities to connect with colleagues while respecting your time outside of work.

Thoughtful, affirming clinical care: We value clinicians who recognize individual differences, respect diverse communication styles, and support each student's autonomy, strengths, and meaningful participation.

Your work may happen across different schools and settings, but you should never feel like you're doing it alone
