Location: 1405 Shady Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15217

Work Setting: Onsite – Clinic-based

Schedule: Full-time; variable hours including evenings and occasional weekends. Community events as needed.

About the Team

The Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) program at The Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh provides comprehensive and holistic services for children with autism and related disorders between the ages of 18 months to 21 years old. We offer a range of programs, including both individual and Group Therapy to best meet the needs of each child. We provide individual and group ABA services in a clinical setting. Parent training is a key part of our program and can occur in person in the clinic or via telehealth. The ABA program collaborates directly with in-house speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy, behavioral health, and nutrition/feeding programs where appropriate.

About the Position

The Lead Board Certified Behavior Analyst (Lead BCBA) provides clinical leadership and oversight for the development, implementation, and monitoring of individualized Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) treatment plans for children, adolescents, and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder and related developmental needs. This role delivers advanced, culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and data-driven IBHS services; conducts behavioral assessments; supervises and mentors direct care staff; supports program quality; and ensures services meet clinical, regulatory, payer, and ethical standards.

The Lead BCBA is accountable for achieving meaningful client outcomes through interdisciplinary collaboration, treatment fidelity, family engagement, staff development, and continuous quality improvement across clinic, community, school, home, and telehealth settings as clinically appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct advanced, trauma-informed, culturally responsive functional behavioral assessments, functional analyses, and other evidence-based evaluations for clients with autism spectrum disorder, developmental delays, and complex behavioral or safety needs.
• Develop, implement, monitor, and revise individualized ABA treatment plans aligned with assessment results, family priorities, clinical best practices, payer requirements, and IBHS regulations.
• Design and oversee ABA interventions using evidence-based approaches such as discrete trial training, natural environment teaching, verbal behavior, precision teaching, and other developmentally appropriate strategies.
• Maintain complete, timely, and audit-ready documentation across assessments, treatment plans, progress reports, supervision notes, discharge planning, and electronic health record entries.
• Review and synthesize behavioral data to track client outcomes, guide treatment revisions, and inform supervision and clinical decision-making.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Special Education, Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related human services or behavioral health field required.
• Must hold an active Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) credential in good standing. Certification must be maintained.
• Must hold or be eligible for Pennsylvania licensure as a Licensed Behavior Specialist (LBS) or other qualifying designation per IBHS or payer requirements.
• Minimum of five years of relevant experience in ABA, IBHS, BHRS, outpatient behavioral health, or related clinical settings preferred.
• Minimum of two years of experience providing ABA services to clients ages 2–21 with autism spectrum disorder, developmental delays, or related behavioral health needs required.
• Prior experience supervising behavior technicians, registered behavior technicians, or other direct care staff under BACB supervision standards required.
• Valid Pennsylvania driver's license, reliable transportation, and active automobile insurance required.
• Act 33/34 Clearances and FBI Clearance required.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification required (training provided upon hire).
• Completion of crisis de-escalation training during onboarding.
