Job Description

PARS Therapy seeks an experienced, motivated Physical Therapist Assistant with a strong orthopedic background to provide specialized home health therapy to patients recovering from orthopedic procedures, injuries, and musculoskeletal conditions.

This position is ideal for a PTA who enjoys orthopedic rehabilitation and values the independence, flexibility, and one-on-one patient care available in the home health setting.

Position Overview

The Home Health Orthopedic PTA Specialist will work closely with the supervising Physical Therapist to provide skilled treatment to patients following orthopedic surgery or injury, including total joint replacements and other orthopedic procedures.

The PTA will carry out established plans of care, provide progressive rehabilitation, monitor patient response to treatment, and coordinate with the supervising Physical Therapist, home health agencies, caregivers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to support safe, efficient recovery in the home.

Primary Responsibilities

Provide skilled physical therapy treatment in the patient's home under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.

Treat patients after total knee and hip replacements, joint surgeries, fractures, and other orthopedic conditions.

Carry out individualized orthopedic rehabilitation plans of care established by the supervising Physical Therapist.

Progress therapeutic exercise, gait training, balance, mobility, strengthening, ROM, and functional activities.

Provide postoperative education including precautions, home exercise programs, mobility expectations, and fall prevention.

Monitor surgical recovery and identify potential complications requiring Physical Therapist, physician, or agency notification.

Communicate patient progress, changes in condition, and clinical concerns to the supervising Physical Therapist.

Coordinate care with Physical Therapists, physicians, nurses, home health agencies, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.

Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation.

Help provide a consistent, high-quality orthopedic rehabilitation experience throughout the patient's episode of care.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a PTA who

  • Has strong orthopedic clinical skills.
  • Is comfortable treating postoperative orthopedic patients in the home.
  • Understands progression following total joint replacement and common orthopedic procedures.
  • Demonstrates excellent clinical judgment and communication within the PTA scope of practice.
  • Is organized and comfortable managing a mobile home health caseload.
  • Values patient education and functional, goal-driven rehabilitation.

Can communicate effectively with supervising therapists, agencies, patients, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals.

Qualifications

  • Current Physical Therapist Assistant license in good standing.
  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Orthopedic physical therapy experience preferred.
  • Home health experience preferred but not required for candidates with a strong orthopedic background.
  • Experience with postoperative joint replacement rehabilitation strongly preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to travel within an assigned geographic area.
