Job Description

Veterinarian – Co-Owner

The opportunity

Are you ready to take the next step in your veterinary career—not just as a clinician, but as a practice co-owner? We're looking for a full-time DVM who wants to be a co-owner, not just an employee. Our Sangaree at Cane Bay practice is growing steadily with a loyal client base, and we're adding a doctor who can step into real equity ownership alongside a team that already knows how to run a great hospital.

This is a partnership model, not a corporate roll-up. You buy in, you own a meaningful stake, and you share in the practice's growth and value. Your name is on the door — and on the balance sheet.

One of the fastest-growing corners of the Charleston metro. An AAHA-accredited hospital with a loyal following. And an open seat at the ownership table. Sangaree Animal Hospital at Cane Bay is seeking a partner doctor — real equity, a real voice in how the practice grows, and support behind you instead of the risk of going solo. You'd join a two-doctor team that's been keeping tails wagging since 2014 and has the "Best of Summerville" hardware to prove it, in a Berkeley County market up 35% over the past decade.

You run the medicine

No mandated protocols. No corporate formulary telling you what to prescribe. No production quotas dictating how long you spend in an exam room.

You decide the workup. You decide the treatment plan. You decide how you practice medicine, because you're the one accountable for the outcome — and the one who benefits when patients and clients stay with you for a decade.

  • What you'd own and operate
  • An established caseload with room to grow — you're not building from zero
  • Leadership in medical decision making and clinic culture
  • A voice in equipment, hiring and scheduling decisions
  • Compensation & equity
  • Competitive base salary + production
  • Distributions based on hospital performance and your equity share
  • Leadership training and mentorship from experienced partners
  • Full benefits: medical, dental, vision, PTO, 401(k), CE
  • VPP-facilitated partner financing (loan support available)

We'll walk you through the full economics — buy-in amount, financing options, historical distributions — early in the conversation. No surprises at the offer stage.

What we're looking for

  • DVM/VMD from an AVMA-accredited school, licensed or license-eligible in South Carolina
  • Small animal general practice experience; comfortable with routine surgery and dentistry
  • Genuine interest in ownership — you want to build something, not just work a shift
  • The judgment and communication skills to be trusted with autonomy

Location

Cane Bay sits just outside Summerville, South Carolina, in Berkeley County — one of the fastest-growing counties in the country, up 35% over the past decade. It's Lowcountry living with a master-planned community feel, and downtown Charleston, its restaurants, and the coast all a short drive away.

Key Responsibilities

The co-owner veterinarian will provide high-quality medical care while leading clinic culture and making key decisions regarding equipment, hiring, and scheduling. You will manage an established caseload and share in the practice's growth and financial performance as a partner.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a DVM or VMD degree from an AVMA-accredited school and be licensed or license-eligible in South Carolina. Experience in small animal general practice, including routine surgery and dentistry, is required along with a genuine interest in equity ownership.
