Job Description

Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA-C) – Interventional PAIN

MANAGEMENT

  • Sarasota Pain Relief Center | Sarasota, Florida
  • Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM | Outpatient
  • Some travel between practice locations

About the Position

Sarasota Pain Relief Center is looking for an NP or PA-C to join our interventional pain management team.

Prior pain management experience is a plus, but it is not required. We’re looking for a strong clinician who is interested in learning the specialty and becoming part of an experienced clinical team.

You’ll work closely with our pain management physicians while building your knowledge of spine and musculoskeletal conditions, imaging, medication management, interventional treatments, and the day-to-day management of patients with acute and chronic pain.

Role Responsibilities

  • Evaluate new and established patients, including medical histories, physical exams, and functional assessments
  • Evaluate and manage patients according to established pain management protocols
  • Develop and manage individualized treatment plans in collaboration with our physicians
  • Order, review, and interpret diagnostic imaging, laboratory testing, and other appropriate studies
  • Prescribe and manage medications within your scope of practice and established clinical protocols
  • Provide pre- and post-procedure evaluations and patient education
  • Perform appropriate in-office injections within scope of practice and training
  • Perform pump refills within scope of practice and training
  • Monitor patient progress and response to treatment
  • Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, procedures, risks, benefits, and expected outcomes
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
  • Work closely with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, and the rest of the clinical team
  • Follow established pain management, compliance, infection-control, and patient-safety standards
  • Respond appropriately to urgent or emergent clinical situations
  • Participate in clinical meetings and quality initiatives as needed

What We’RE Looking For

First and foremost, we’re looking for a good clinician and the right fit for our team.

You Should Be Someone Who

  • Has strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills
  • Is comfortable asking questions when you don’t know something
  • Is receptive to feedback and able to apply it
  • Communicates clearly and compassionately with patients
  • Works well with physicians and clinical staff
  • Is dependable, organized, and comfortable working in a busy outpatient practice
  • Takes documentation, follow-through, and patient safety seriously
  • Wants to continue developing clinically
  • Is willing to learn the pain management specialty
  • Is comfortable traveling between practice locations as needed

Prior pain management experience is helpful, but we won’t overlook a strong candidate simply because pain management is new to them.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Current national certification as a Nurse Practitioner or PA-C
  • Current, active, unrestricted Florida APRN or Physician Assistant license, or eligibility to obtain appropriate Florida licensure before employment
  • BLS and/or CPR certification; ACLS preferred
  • Comfortable working with electronic medical records and clinical documentation systems

There is a lot to learn in this specialty, including:

  • Spine and musculoskeletal conditions
  • Neurologic conditions related to pain
  • Diagnostic imaging and clinical correlation
  • Interventional pain procedures
  • Conservative treatment options
  • Medication management and opioid stewardship
  • Pre- and post-procedure care
  • Functional assessment and treatment response
  • In-office procedures and injections
  • Pump management and refills
  • New and evolving approaches to interventional pain management

You don’t need to come in knowing everything. You do need to be engaged, dependable, clinically thoughtful, willing to ask questions, and open to feedback.

If you’re looking for an opportunity to build real experience in interventional pain management and work closely with an experienced clinical team, we’d like to meet you.
