Job Duties

The staff psychiatrist serves as the leader of a Treatment Team, provides direct medical and psychiatric care for patients assigned to the Treatment Team, and provides consultation to colleagues, supervision of nurse practitioners and/or physician assistants as requested, as well as participating in the Medical Professional Staff organization.

Minimum Qualifications

• Licensed to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• A current DEA certificate is also required.
• Completion of an approved residency program in Psychiatry is required.

*Either current BLS or ACLS certification is required. ACLS is required for those wishing to provide on call MOD coverage at night, weekends, or holidays.

Additional Considerations

Certification in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology is preferred but not required.

Ability to demonstrate satisfactory training, skill, expertise, and knowledge in the treatment of psychiatric patients.

Work experience with inpatient psychiatric populations is preferred.
