This position offers a balanced clinical practice encompassing high-acuity hospital-based procedures across two major medical centers (Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento and Sutter Roseville Medical Center), two dedicated outpatient procedural centers, and two daily dedicated IR clinics. Our interventionalists are supported by a robust infrastructure, including a dedicated team of soon to be 6 Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs) assisting with inpatient rounding, consults, pre-procedure workups, and longitudinal outpatient follow-up. Advanced & Niche Interventions: Interventional Oncology (Y-90, TACE, lung/liver/kidney/thyroid ablations, histotripsy), Musculoskeletal Interventions (cryoneurolysis, vertebral augmentations, GAE), and Complex Vascular Care (peripheral arterial disease, pulmonary embolism thrombectomy, superficial and deep venous interventions).

Core Procedures: Biopsies, paracenteses, thoracenteses, drainage catheter placements, and vascular access.

Trauma & Acuity: Hospital coverage includes a designated Level 2 Trauma Center with active planning toward Level 1 Trauma designation.

Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Dedicated, protected time for active participation in in-person tumor boards.

Facilities & Practice Sites

Primary Location: Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento (SMCS) with associated Sacramento outpatient IR procedure suite and clinic.

Secondary Location: Occasional shared coverage at Sutter Roseville Medical Center (SRMC) and Roseville outpatient facility.

Outpatient Centers: Two dedicated, standalone IR clinics and procedure suites designed for outpatient interventions, consults, and follow-ups.

Schedule & Work-Life Balance

Inpatient Workflow: 1 to 3 hospital days per week. Inpatient case volume averages 7 -9 hospital-based outpatient procedures daily plus inpatient add-on requests covered by 2 IR physicians and 1-2 APCs.

Outpatient Workflow: Approximately 1 clinic day and 1 dedicated outpatient procedure day per week (averaging 12–16 minor/moderate procedures daily).

Diagnostic Rotation: Vascular imaging interpretation scheduled approximately once every two weeks.

Schedule Flexibility: Built-in days off integrated into the master schedule to ensure sustainable work-life balance.

  • Call & Support System
  • Call Frequency: 1:12 primary call and 1:12 backup call.
  • Clinical Staffing: 24/7 dedicated IR nursing and technologist teams available for after-hours emergency cases.

Inpatient Support: 6 APCs integrated across both hospitals to manage consults, floor rounds, patient teaching, and outpatient follow up.

  • Time Off: 12 weeks of vacation backed by deep group coverage.
