Job Description

The Division of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Children’s Nebraska is seeking a candidate for a two-year Clinical Instructor position within its growing academic and clinical program.

The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative team that includes 3 pediatric cardiothoracic surgeons, six advanced practice providers, and an experienced multidisciplinary support team dedicated to delivering exception care.

The goal of this pathway is to educate and develop future academic, clinical, and research leaders in pediatric cardiothoracic surgery. Upon completion of the pathway, the surgeon should have clinical expertise in all aspects of pre, intra, and postoperative management of infants, children, and adults with congenital heart disease.

The role also includes active engagement in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows within a collaborative academic environment.

In addition, the candidate will be expected to contribute to the division's academic mission by completing at least one scholarly or research project during the appointment period.

The Dr. C.C. and Mabel L. Criss Heart Center at Children’s Nebraska is home to a premier comprehensive congenital heart program that provides care all throughout the region.

The Heart Center includes 33 pediatric cardiology faculty members, 3 pediatric cardiothoracic surgeons, 10 pediatric cardiac intensivists, 6 pediatric cardiac anesthesiologists, and a highly skilled group of nurse practitioners and physician assistants.

Our Cardiac Care Unit employs a “door to door” acuity-adaptable care model, ensuring comprehensive care for cardiac patients from admission to discharge. The Heart Center is also a certified Aetna Institute of Excellence for pediatric congenital heart surgery.

Children's Nebraska is the region's only full-service pediatric specialty healthcare center and a freestanding pediatric teaching hospital dedicated to advancing clinical care, education, research, patient experience, and safety.
