Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
PRN Night Shift Position
Job Summary
* Assists in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with
pulmonary disorders
* Collects and analyzes sputum, blood, and breath specimens to determine levels
of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gases
* Also measures the lung capacity of a patient to determine if there is
impaired function
* Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
* Performs a variety of tasks
* A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required
* Typically reports to a manager
Qualifications
* Associate's degree and a credential of Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
* May be expected to maintain a CPR certification
* Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a
particular field
Odessa Regional Medical Center was founded in 1975 as Odessa Women’s and
Children’s Hospital. Through the years, the hospital grew and evolved into a
full-service healthcare facility and the name was changed to Odessa Regional
Medical Center to reflect its larger campus and more comprehensive services. The
hospital has 225 beds and has approximately 250 physicians on staff and has over
700 employees.
Today, ORMC offers a wide spectrum of healthcare services, including advanced
diagnostic imaging technology, emergency care, innovative surgical procedures,
maternity care, comprehensive cardiac services and general medical care.
Key Responsibilities
The Respiratory Therapist assists in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with pulmonary disorders. They perform tasks such as collecting specimens for gas analysis and measuring lung capacity to assess function.
