Job Description
Cardiac Surgeon, Heart Failure, Mechanical Circulatory Support & Transplantation
Division of Cardiac Surgery | Tufts Medical Center
The CardioVascular Center at Tufts Medical Center — an integrated Heart and Vascular Center uniting Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, and Vascular Surgery — invites applications from adult cardiac surgeons for a position within its Division of Cardiac Surgery focused on advanced heart failure, heart transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support.
The successful candidate will join a team dedicated to the surgical management of end-stage heart disease, with a clinical practice spanning the broad spectrum of adult cardiac surgery and a special emphasis on heart transplantation, ventricular assist device (VAD) implantation, and temporary and durable mechanical circulatory support — collaborating closely with the advanced heart failure, transplant, and cardiac surgery teams to provide comprehensive care for patients with complex cardiovascular disease.
This is an opportunity to help grow a program built within one of the region’s most dynamic cardiovascular centers — home to one of the largest heart transplant programs in the country and, in both 2024 and 2025, the highest-volume adult heart transplant center in New England.

- Completion of an accredited cardiothoracic surgery training program.
Advanced clinical training or experience in heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support. 3+ years of experience preferred.
- Academic qualifications appropriate for appointment at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level.
- Demonstrated commitment to clinical excellence, teaching, research, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
