OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

• Salary Range: $46.00 - $46.00 HourlyJob Shift: DaysJob Summary: This is a professional position involving the responsibility of evaluating, planning and providing occupational therapy treatment to patients in accordance with written prescription from a qualified provider. In the case of Direct Access, the occupational therapist will evaluate, plan and provide treatment within the guidelines set forth regarding Direct Access. • vision may be exercised over the work of a COTA, Physical Therapy Aides and clerical employees assigned to the service. The Occupational Therapist does related work as necessary or required Key Responsibilities: Performing physical therapy evaluations and treatments using safe, evidence based techniques to infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics. Developing and implementing new and revised physical therapy care programs including discharge plans. Conducting screenings to determine the need for further examination or referrals to other healthcare professionals within the network. Collaborating with other personnel to formulate the best possible patient care. Maintaining appropriate documentation of all physical therapy evaluations, re-evaluations, progress notes, care plans, treatment notes, consultation, and discharge summaries. Assisting in the development of physical therapy policy and procedures. Initiating wellness and injury prevention education within the facility and the community at large.

Qualifications

Education: Master’s Degree in Occupation Therapy from accredited institution, Bachelor’s Degree with experience Certifications: Licensed and currently registered by the NYS Education Department as a Occupational Therapist Experience: Good knowledge of the principles, techniques and practices of occupational therapy Good knowledge of the operation and maintenance of apparatus and equipment used in occupational therapy Good knowledge of pathological conditions and socioeconomic factors affecting a patient’s disabilities Working knowledge of community resources applicable to occupational therapy; ability to plan and supervise the work of others Must have the ability to establish and maintain working relationships Good communication skills Must have computer skills relative to the electronic record, charting, auditing and maintenance Physical Requirements: Physical condition commensurate with demands of the position
