Summary

The LCSW social worker provides direct Social Work services to patients and families coping with acute or chronic medical conditions. The Social Worker provides ongoing supportive counseling/clinical therapy aimed at maintaining the functional behavior of families. The social worker assesses families for needed assistance with resource procurement in order to support the family's effort in caring for their child in either the ambulatory or inpatient care setting.

Education & Experience

Master's degree from an accredited school of Social Work.

Previous experience in a hospital setting and prior experience working with children and families is preferred.

Certification/Licensure

Current Texas License for LCSW.

Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for Health Care Providers within 30 days of employment. If physically unable to complete BLS for Health Care Providers, then the employee will have the option of attending a Heart Saver program on campus or attending an outside course using a non-computerized mannequin.

Candidates must hold a Master's degree from an accredited school of Social Work and possess a current Texas LCSW license. Previous experience in a hospital setting working with children and families is preferred, and BLS certification is required within 30 days of employment.
