  • PT Residential Behavioral Health DSP
  • Hourly Pay: $20.44/hour
  • Shift Differential: Additional $2.50/hour for evening, overnight, and weekend shifts.

Schedule: Every other weekend (Saturday & Sunday): 8:00 a. m.-4:30 p. m., 4:00 p. m.-12:30 a. m., or 12:00 a. m.-8:30 a. m.

Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board (H-NNCSB) is hiring a Part-Time Direct Support Professional (DSP) for our MH Regional Supervised Housing (RSH) Program. This residential behavioral health position supports adults with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) as they strengthen daily living skills, maintain stability, and increase independence in the community.

Minimum Qualifications

One year of direct care experience working with adults with serious mental illness.

What You'll Do

Provide direct support and supervision to adults in a community-based residential setting. You'll assist individuals with daily routines, medication support, meal preparation, household responsibilities, appointments, and activities that promote independent living.

You'll encourage individuals to engage in behavioral health, medical, and other services based on their needs and goals. Support may also include helping individuals participate in community programs, vocational services, volunteer opportunities, or employment.

You'll monitor behavioral and emotional well-being, recognize and report significant changes, complete accurate documentation, and communicate with supervisors, clinicians, and other members of the support team.

Most importantly, you'll encourage individuals to make choices, use their strengths, develop skills, and take an active role in their daily lives.

About Regional Supervised Housing (RSH)

The MH Regional Supervised Housing Program provides a structured community living environment for adults with serious mental illness whose needs can be supported outside of a psychiatric facility.

The program focuses on maximizing independence, maintaining stability, engaging individuals in needed services, and reducing psychiatric hospital admissions. Staff provide individualized support and training based on each person's goals, needs, and choices.
