Job Description
South Plains Rural Health Services is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Dental Hygienist to join our dental team. In this role, you'll provide preventive oral healthcare, educate patients on maintaining healthy smiles, and work alongside our dentists to deliver exceptional, patient-centered care to the communities we serve.
What You'll Do
- Perform dental cleanings, scaling, polishing, and periodontal maintenance.
- Take dental radiographs and assist with patient assessments.
- Apply fluoride treatments, sealants, and other preventive therapies.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and preventive dental care.
- Document patient care accurately in the electronic dental record.
- Maintain treatment rooms, instruments, and equipment following infection control standards.
- Collaborate with dentists and other team members to provide quality patient care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring
- Graduate of an accredited Dental Hygiene program.
- Current Texas Dental Hygienist license in good standing.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Knowledge of preventive dentistry and infection control practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
As part of South Plains Rural Health Services, Inc.'s commitment to patient and staff safety, all employees are required to comply with the annual influenza vaccination policy. Employees must either provide proof of influenza vaccination, or submit a medical/religious exemption form and wear a face mask during the flu season.
Key Responsibilities
Provide preventive oral healthcare including cleanings, scaling, and polishing while educating patients on oral hygiene. Collaborate with dentists to deliver patient-centered care and maintain accurate electronic dental records.
Requirements
Must be a graduate of an accredited Dental Hygiene program with a current Texas Dental Hygienist license and BLS certification. Knowledge of infection control and preventive dentistry is required, with bilingual skills preferred.
