30th Street Animal Hospital is welcoming experienced veterinarians and new graduates, including the Class of 2027, to join our collaborative small-animal practice in Indianapolis, Indiana!

Whether you're preparing to begin your veterinary career or looking for a hospital where you can continue practicing great medicine, enjoy a supportive team, and grow professionally, we'd love to meet you.

We're a progressive, relationship-centered general practice with a long-standing reputation for compassionate care, comprehensive medicine, and genuine teamwork. Our veterinarians enjoy a modern, well-equipped facility, experienced support staff, a diverse medical and surgical caseload, and the flexibility to practice high-quality medicine while meeting clients where they are.

For new graduates, we offer a structured, hands-on mentorship program designed to build clinical confidence and independence. For experienced veterinarians, we offer clinical autonomy, opportunities to pursue professional interests, and potential leadership or partnership opportunities.

What to Expect

A schedule that respects your time. Enjoy a 4-day workweek, rotating half-day Saturdays, no on-call responsibilities, and no major holiday coverage. Our appointment-based schedule includes 30-minute doctor visits and a dedicated midday block for lunch, medical records, callbacks, procedures, and collaboration.

A team that makes your day easier. Our approximately 2:1 technician-to-doctor ratio, experienced support staff, and dedicated floater help keep appointments, treatments, and daily workflows moving smoothly. Technicians manage their own appointments and many routine callbacks, allowing our veterinarians to focus on medicine.

A modern, 6,000-square-foot hospital. Practice in a beautifully remodeled facility featuring six exam rooms, a spacious two-table surgical suite, separate canine and feline treatment areas, a dedicated isolation ward, and designated surgical recovery space.

Technology that supports excellent medicine. You'll have access to IDEXX in-house diagnostics, digital radiography, digital dental radiography, ultrasound, EKG, therapeutic laser, advanced anesthesia monitoring, electrocautery, and active surgical suction. We also utilize EzyVet, Weave, and ScribbleVet AI to simplify documentation and communication.

A diverse medical, surgical, and dental caseload. From wellness and internal medicine to dermatology, dentistry, ultrasound, and soft tissue surgery, you'll have opportunities to practice a broad range of medicine. Our team performs procedures including spays/neuters, mass removals, cystotomies, pyometras, foreign body surgeries, and more, with strong specialty and emergency referral relationships when needed.

Structured mentorship and hands-on clinical development. New graduates benefit from a personalized onboarding plan with extended appointment times, side-by-side clinical training, supervised surgical and dental experience, regular mentor meetings, and progressive milestones throughout their first year.

A genuinely collaborative culture. Our doctors share a workspace, discuss cases regularly, and participate in weekly DVM meetings. We encourage questions, value different perspectives, and believe learning opportunities should build confidence rather than create unnecessary pressure.

Benefits that support your life outside the hospital. Medical, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k); paid holidays; PTO; paid CE days and allowance; student loan repayment opportunities; pet discounts; uniform allowance; Employee Assistance Program (EAP); and coverage for professional dues, licensing fees, and AVMA-PLIT.

Opportunities for long-term growth and ownership. Through Veterinary Practice Partners (VPP), you'll have access to professional development, leadership resources, and potential practice partnership opportunities, supported by experienced operations, marketing, and finance teams.

Requirements

  • About 30th Street Animal Hospital

30th Street Animal Hospital is a well-established, progressive small-animal general practice that has proudly served the East Indianapolis and Lawrence communities for decades. With a 4.8-star reputation and a Neighborhood Clinic Choice Award, we've built lasting relationships with generations of pet owners who trust us with their companions.

Our philosophy is simple: Provide gold-standard medical recommendations while recognizing that every pet and family has different needs. We believe in open communication, individualized treatment plans, and helping clients make informed decisions that balance medical recommendations with practical financial considerations.

Our hospital combines the personal feel of a community veterinary practice with the equipment and resources of a modern medical facility. Our approximately 6,000-square-foot hospital features six exam rooms, a large surgical suite, separate canine and feline treatment areas, and dedicated spaces for diagnostics, isolation, and recovery.

Our medical capabilities include:

  • Preventive medicine, wellness care, and chronic disease management
  • Internal medicine, dermatology, and endocrine disease management
  • Comprehensive dentistry, including digital dental radiography and extractions
  • Soft tissue surgery, including spays/neuters, mass removals, foreign body procedures, pyometras, and cystotomies
  • Digital radiography, abdominal ultrasound, and in-house IDEXX diagnostics
  • Therapeutic laser, EKG, and advanced anesthesia monitoring
  • Visiting cardiology services for echocardiograms twice monthly

Daytime Urgent Care and Sick-patient Management

We maintain strong relationships with nearby emergency and specialty hospitals, including IndyVet and NOAHS, ensuring patients have access to additional care when needed.

Our doctors typically see approximately 15 patients daily in 30-minute appointments, with a dedicated midday block from 12:00–2:00 PM for lunch, callbacks, charting, ultrasounds, minor procedures, and other clinical responsibilities. This structure creates opportunities for thoughtful medicine, case discussions, and continued learning throughout the day.

Culture, Team & Fit

What truly makes 30th Street Animal Hospital special isn't just our facility or equipment. It's the people who make up our team.

We're a close-knit, compassionate group that genuinely cares about our patients, our clients, and one another. We believe exceptional veterinary medicine starts with strong relationships, open communication, and a willingness to work together.

Our doctors collaborate on cases, share ideas, and support each other's professional development. With daily team huddles, weekly doctor meetings, and regular all-staff discussions, communication and teamwork are part of our everyday culture.

We also believe the little things matter. Our team follows up with clients after their pets' visits, sends thoughtful sympathy and support cards during difficult times, and works hard to make every client feel heard, respected, and cared for.

We celebrate team accomplishments, recognize individual contributions, and make time for staff appreciation events and activities. Most importantly, we strive to create an environment where everyone feels comfortable asking questions, offering ideas, and learning from one another.

We're looking for someone who values teamwork, enjoys building lasting client relationships, and believes that great medicine and genuine compassion go hand in hand.

Whether you're a new graduate looking for guidance or an experienced veterinarian hoping to share your expertise while continuing to grow, you'll find a team that wants you to succeed.
