* Part Time - Scheduled for 20 Weekly Hours

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Registered Mammography Technologist produces high quality breast imaging
procedures while following guidelines established by the ARRT (American Registry
of Radiologic Technologist), ACR (American College of Radiology) and MQSA
(Mammography Quality Standards Act and Program).  They will perform all
screening, diagnostic, invasive, and DEXA (dual energy X-ray absorptiometry)
scans according to established protocols and procedures for interpretation by
supervising physician.

Essential Job Functions

  • Performs all breast imaging and DEXA
  • Assists the radiologist in invasive breast procedures, ensuring aseptic
  • Correlates patient's clinical history with procedure, ensuring information is
  • Selects and operates breast imaging equipment and associated devices to achieve
  • Selects appropriate radiographic technique exposure factors to produce quality
  • Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient,
  • Applies the principles of patient safety during all aspects of the mammographic
  • Provides patient education and discharge
  • Participates in the department's quality assessments and improvement plans.

Licensing/Certification

Certification and Registration in Mammography, ARRT (American Registry of
Radiologic Technologists) (preferred upon hire, or must obtain within six months
of hire)

State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being
performed)

BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, must
obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care) (required)     

Education

Associate's from an ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
accredited institute (preferred)  

Work Experience

1 year experience as a registered mammography technologist (preferred)

Training

EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) (preferred)

Picture archiving communication system (PACS) (preferred)

Language

Adults (18-64 years)

Geriatrics (65 years and older)

Working Conditions

Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur

May be exposed to physical altercations and verbal abuse

May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights

May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids

May be exposed to human blood and other potentially infectious materials

May have periods of constant interruptions

General office environment

Key Responsibilities

Perform high-quality breast imaging and DEXA procedures while adhering to ARRT, ACR, and MQSA guidelines. Assist radiologists with invasive breast procedures and provide essential patient education and discharge instructions.

Requirements

Requires ARRT certification in Mammography and BLS certification from the American Heart Association. An associate degree from an ARRT accredited institute and one year of experience are preferred.
