Job Duties
Serves as Assistant Chief Medical Officer of the hospital. Provides assistance
to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) with oversight of leadership, direction,
management, and supervision of the activities of the Medical Staff. Responsible
for providing leadership, management and direction to the Medical Affairs
Department in the absence of the (CMO). Provides guidance to the Medical Staff
including the planning, implementing, and monitoring of psychiatric services.
Advises CMO and Hospital leadership as needed on clinical and administrative
matters, particularly the psychiatric aspects of patient management, quality of
care, and risk management issues. Serves as a primary physician to assigned
patients; for diagnosing and treating physical and mental illnesses using
generally accepted treatment modalities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Licensed to practice by the Virginia Board of Medicine
- Virginia Controlled Substance Registration (Board of Pharmacy)
- DEA Registration.
- Graduation from an approved/accredited medical school with a Doctor of Medicine
- Certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or equivalent.

Requirements
Candidates must be licensed to practice by the Virginia Board of Medicine, hold necessary registrations (Virginia Controlled Substance and DEA), and possess a Doctor of Medicine degree with completed psychiatry residency training. Considerable experience in administrative and clinical operations within a psychiatric health care organization is required.
