Job Description

  • Senior Clinical Trainer — Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
  • Cordial Health PC
  • Brooklyn, NY (HQ)
  • Full-time
  • Travel across NY/NJ facilities (ON SITE 4 Days Per week, Some travel required)

About the Role

Cordial Health delivers on-site psychiatric care to residents of nursing homes, assisted living communities, and post-acute facilities across New York and New Jersey. As we scale our provider team, we need a senior PMHNP who can turn strong clinicians into confident long-term-care psychiatric providers.

Reporting to clinical leadership in Brooklyn, the Senior Clinical Trainer owns onboarding, field training, and ongoing clinical development for our PMHNP and PA workforce — the person every new provider calls in their first 90 days.

This is a hands-on clinical education role, not a desk job. You’ll split time between the Brooklyn office, facility shadow visits, and virtual training sessions.

What You’ll Do

Design and run the clinical onboarding program for new PMHNPs/PAs: geriatric psychopharmacology, SNF workflows, documentation, CMS and state regulatory requirements (F-tags, PASRR, gradual dose reduction, antipsychotic stewardship)

Shadow and precept new providers at facilities during their first weeks; deliver real-time feedback and competency sign-offs

Build and maintain clinical protocols, templates, and a training curriculum; keep them current with regulatory changes

  • Lead monthly case conferences and CE-eligible clinical education sessions
  • Conduct chart audits and quality reviews; coach providers on documentation and clinical decision-making
  • Partner with Regional Leads and recruiting to identify skill gaps and shorten time-to-independent-practice
  • Maintain a reduced personal caseload (roughly 20%) to stay clinically current and credible
  • Serve as clinical escalation point for complex cases during provider ramp-up

Nice to Have

  • DNP or MSN with education focus
  • Experience with EHR build/templates and telehealth delivery
  • Bilingual English/Spanish

What You Bring

  • Board-certified PMHNP (PMHNP-BC) with active, unrestricted NY license; NJ license or willingness to obtain
  • Active DEA registration
  • 5+ years psychiatric practice, including 2+ years in long-term care, SNF, or geriatric psychiatry
  • Prior experience precepting, training, or supervising NPs/PAs — formal clinical educator or lead experience strongly preferred
  • Deep working knowledge of CMS long-term care regulations and psychotropic prescribing standards
  • Comfortable building curriculum from scratch and presenting to groups
  • Valid driver’s license; able to travel to facilities across the region 2–3 days per week

Benefits

Medical, dental, vision; 401(k); PTO + paid holidays; CME allowance and license
