Nurse Practitioner Compensation: $60/hour Department: Interprofessional Community Clinics - Temp Start Date: 10/16/2026 About this opportunity: Join Ball State University’s College of Health as a part-time Nurse Practitioner with the Healthy Lifestyle Center, part of the Interprofessional Community Clinics. This unique position offers the opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centered care while working alongside professionals and students in an innovative, interprofessional clinical environment. We are seeking a collaborative, community-focused provider who is passionate about a model of care that values prevention, wellness, and whole-person health. Depending on the provider’s background and area of expertise, there may also be opportunities to help develop and expand clinical services to meet the evolving needs of our patients and community. The successful candidate will help individuals live healthier lives, expand access to care in East Central Indiana, and prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals through hands-on clinical mentorship.
This Rural Health Transformation Program is supported by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) of the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as part of a financial assistance award totaling $206,927,896.80 with 100 percent funded by CMS/HHS. Position Description:
The College of Health and our Interprofessional Community Clinics invites passionate and community-focused Nurse Practitioners to join the Healthy Lifestyle Center as a part-time provider delivering high-quality care across the lifespan. This is a unique opportunity to practice in a mission-driven clinical setting where innovation, collaboration, and service come together to improve lives. The successful candidate will play a vital role in expanding access to comprehensive care for individuals and families in East Central Indiana while mentoring future healthcare professionals and contributing to an interprofessional model of care that values prevention, wellness, and whole-person health.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive medical services to patients across the lifespan.
Conduct health histories, physical examinations, diagnostic evaluations, and treatment planning.
Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions.
Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with regulatory standards.
Deliver preventive services, wellness counseling, and patient education.
Collaborate with staff and students in an interprofessional clinical environment.
Coordinate patient care and referrals as needed.
Serve as a clinical preceptor and mentor to healthcare students.
Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records.
Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited institution.
Current Indiana licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or eligible.
National certification as a Nurse Practitioner or eligible.
Current DEA registration or ability to obtain.
Demonstrated experience in practice within the field of certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in an interprofessional clinical environment or community health setting.
Experience supervising or mentoring students.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Work Environment:
This position is based in the Interprofessional Community Clinics and community-based rural training clinics and involves direct patient care, student supervision, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams in a learning-centered environment.
