Job Description
Who We Are
Coastal Animal Hospital is looking for a veterinarian to join our team in beautiful Kitty Hawk, North Carolina! Our established, four-doctor practice provides comprehensive medical, surgical, and dental care to pets in the Outer Banks.
With experienced colleagues, a dedicated support team, and opportunities to explore your clinical interests, you’ll find room to grow while enjoying life on the coast. Experienced veterinarians and new graduates are welcome, and part-time opportunities are available.
Our stand-alone hospital features a surgical suite, dedicated radiology and treatment areas, a specialized dental suite, and an in-house pharmacy. We continue to invest in our practice, with additional exam rooms under discussion and a transition toward a paper-lite workflow planned. Our equipment includes:
- Ultrasound with Doppler
- Digital X-ray
- Therapeutic laser
- IDEXX in-house blood and urine diagnostics, including ProCyte, SediVue, Catalyst Dx, and VetLab UA
- Exam lift table with an integrated scale
Tono-Pen
Our patient population is approximately 95% small animal and 5% exotics. Our veterinarians perform surgeries ranging from routine spays to exploratory procedures, and a board-certified orthopedic surgeon visits monthly. Members of our team also offer exotic pet care, house calls, and same-day appointments.
Doctors typically see approximately 20 patients daily, with standard 20-minute appointments and drop-off options for patients needing longer visits. We’re a welcoming team with many long-standing staff members, two licensed veterinary technicians, and two team members pursuing licensure.
With approximately two technicians or assistants per doctor, we encourage collaboration, questions, and continued learning. Monthly team dinners and local outreach keep us connected to one another and our community. New graduates receive mentorship that includes:
- Case discussions and guidance from experienced veterinarians
- Hands-on surgical training
- Longer appointment times during mentorship
- Support building confidence and managing their own patients
Schedule Highlights
Four Weekdays per Week
Eventual Saturday rotation every fourth to fifth Saturday, 8 a. m.–2 p. m., with an additional day off those weeks
- No required after-hours or on-call duties
- Optional after-hours emergency work for additional income
- Part-time opportunities available
