About the Role

AFM Family & Internal Medicine in Fairfax, VA is looking for a board-certified Family Medicine or Internal Medicine physician to join our established practice. We’ve served this community for 30 years, and our patients stay with us for the long haul.

You’ll care for an adult-heavy panel, many of them older patients managing chronic conditions, with support from nurses, care managers and a behavioral health team. If you want relationship-based primary care without the churn of a large health system, we’d love to talk.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive primary care, including exams, diagnoses and treatment plans
• Manage acute and chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease and COPD
• Perform annual wellness visits and preventive care for Medicare and commercial patients
• Work with our care management team on chronic care, remote monitoring and behavioral health programs
• Supervise and collaborate with nurse practitioners and physician assistants
• Document encounters accurately and on time in our EHR, including complete diagnosis coding
• Follow up on labs, referrals and patient questions promptly
• Follow all clinical protocols, HIPAA regulations and safety standards

Requirements

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school
• Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
• Active, unrestricted Virginia medical license, or eligibility to obtain one
• Active DEA registration, or willingness to obtain one
• Outpatient primary care experience preferred; new residency graduates welcome
• Comfortable with EHR systems and value-based care
• Strong communication skills and a patient-first approach
• Interest in mentoring and working alongside advanced practice providers
