Job Description

Overview

This person will provide student instruction and supervision of physical therapy services for a physical therapy clinic in a non-faculty/non-teaching role. This position will be required to maintain professional liability insurance in the minimum amount of $1 million per occurrence or claims made as a condition of practicing as a physical therapist in the Commonwealth. Must provide proof of coverage by submitting a copy of the certificate of insurance.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Graduation from a physical therapy school accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) with eligibility for Pennsylvania licensure as a physical therapist. Required

Licenses and Certifications

  • PT - Physical Therapist Current Pennsylvania PT license. Required
  • APTA - Physical Therapy Credentialed Clinical Instructor. Preferred
  • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation from American Heart Association. Required

Experience

  • Three (3) years of full-time experience in a physical therapy setting. Required
  • Relevant teaching experience as a clinical instructor or in an educational setting Preferred

Abilities and Skills

Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, faculty, staff, and the public. Required

Sensitivity to the expectations of students, faculty, and staff. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. Required

  • Functional ability with computers or ability to learn computer functions. Required

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall supervision of operations of the physical therapy clinic.
  • Perform physical therapy evaluations and treatments
  • Instruct and supervise students in patient care and operation of the physical therapy clinic.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all physical therapy services.
  • Schedule patients to ensure high-quality student learning experiences
  • Identify referral growth opportunities
  • Refer patients for follow-up services or further consultation
  • Ensure patient and student safety
  • Manage environmental emergencies that may occur in the clinical session.
  • Abide by College policies and procedures and the Pennsylvania State Physical Therapy Practice Act
  • Physical Standards and Special Job Features
  • Conduct routine physical tasks and maneuvers to position patients and equipment.
  • Requires adequate coordination, balance, and agility.
