High School Psychologist Leave Replacement

Salary Range: $63,000 - $77,000. Placement in the range is commensurate with experience.

We are seeking a High School Psychologist (Psy. D., Ph. D.) or Ed. D. leave replacement from November 2026 through June 2027. The Psychologist will provide clinical counseling and consultation to support the mental health, emotional well-being, and healthy development of high school students. This is a full-time, in-person position reporting to the Director of Health & Wellness. 

Responsibilities

Clinical Counseling & Student Support

* Provide short-term individual counseling to high school students presenting with a range of social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health concerns.

* Conduct clinical and risk assessments; respond to mental health crises and develop safety plans when clinically indicated.

* Develop and implement appropriate short-term interventions and coping strategies.

* Support students navigating anxiety, depression, stress, relationships, identity development, family concerns, substance use, grief and loss, and other adolescent mental health concerns.

* Determine when additional evaluation, outside treatment, or higher levels of care are warranted and facilitate appropriate referrals.

* Maintain appropriate clinical boundaries, confidentiality, and documentation in accordance with professional standards and school policies.

Consultation & Care Coordination

* Collaborate closely with students, parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, learning support professionals, and the High School Clinical Team to coordinate student support.

* Communicate with outside therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, and other providers, as appropriate and with appropriate releases of information.

* Coordinate school-based and community-based mental health services and support continuity of care.

* Participate in multidisciplinary case consultation and contribute clinical expertise to discussions regarding students of concern.

Evaluations & Student Support Meetings

* Review neuropsychological, psychoeducational, psychological, and other relevant clinical evaluations and communicate clinically relevant findings and recommendations to appropriate school professionals.

* Collaborate with the Learning Support Team to understand and implement recommendations related to students’ emotional, behavioral, and academic functioning.

* Participate in High School guidance and student support meetings, contributing relevant clinical information and identifying students who may benefit from additional intervention or referral.

Parent/Guardian Consultation

* Provide clinical consultation to parents/guardians regarding adolescent mental health, emotional development, family dynamics, and school-related concerns.

* Help families understand and respond to emerging mental health or behavioral concerns.

* Provide referrals and resources to outside clinicians, treatment programs, and other community-based services when appropriate.

* Facilitate communication among students, families, school professionals, and outside providers when clinically appropriate.

Documentation & Confidentiality

* Maintain timely, accurate, and clinically appropriate documentation of counseling sessions, consultations, referrals, and relevant student concerns in the school’s confidential August Schools database.

* Maintain student confidentiality while appropriately communicating information necessary to ensure student safety and coordinate care.

Qualifications

* Must have a doctoral degree in a mental health field and current clinical licensure.

* Demonstrated clinical experience providing counseling or psychotherapy to adolescents; experience with high school-aged students required.

* Experience with clinical assessment, risk assessment, crisis intervention, and/or care coordination preferred.

* Experience working in a school, particularly an independent school setting, strongly preferred.

* Strong understanding of adolescent development and contemporary mental health concerns.

* Excellent communication, collaboration, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

* Sound clinical judgment, strong professional boundaries, and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
