Job Description

Overview

The faculty will be responsible for educational leadership and student instruction on a part-time basis in the Physical Therapist Assistant Program. This position will be required to maintain professional liability insurance in the minimum amount of $1 million per occurrence or claims made as a condition of practicing as a physical therapist in the Commonwealth. Must provide proof of coverage by submitting a copy of the certificate of insurance.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree Baccalaureate Degree in Physical Therapy, Physical Therapist Assistant or related discipline. Required

Licenses and Certifications

  • PT - Physical Therapist Current Pennsylvania PT license Required
  • PTA - Physical Therapist Assistant Current Pennsylvania PTA license Required

Experience

  • Three (3) years of full-time experience in a physical therapy setting. Required
  • Relevant teaching experience as a clinical instructor or in an educational setting. Required

Abilities and Skills

Academic and experiential qualifications necessary to teach the assigned course objectives. Required

Must possess an understanding the roles and responsibilities of Physical Therapist Assistants in clinical practice and serve as an advocate for same. Required

  • Effective oral and written communication skills. Required
  • Must maintain currency in diverse physical therapy theory and practice models and methods. Required
  • Developed organizational skills. Required
  • Possession of a valid PA Driver's license Preferred

Responsibilities

Develop course syllabi and materials, in collaboration with PTA Director and/or faculty, as necessary to ensure consistency of Student objectives and outcomes.

Abide by the College's requirements related to grade reporting and retention of instructional materials.

Instruct and evaluate students in a course, or courses and laboratories as assigned by the PTA program Director.

Develop and implement educational coursework and evaluation tools sensitive to a variety of learning styles.

Design, implement, and report learning assessments in assigned courses consistent with the College's, CAPTE's, and the PTA program’s expectations and format.

  • Maintain accurate written records of student performance.
  • Instruct and supervise students in patient care and operation of the physical therapy clinic.
  • Perform physical therapy evaluations and treatments in the physical therapy clinic.
  • Attend department meetings as requested.
  • Complete official student rosters and return to the School of Health Sciences office as required.
  • Participate in the Physical Therapist Assistant program evaluation process.
  • Develop, in coordination with the Director, an individualized professional development plan.
  • Participate in curriculum review and evaluation process.
  • Foster and deliver curriculum in accordance with program mission and philosophy.
  • Maintain department equipment, supplies, and lab area in a professional manner.
  • Maintain office hours according to contractual agreement.

  • Conduct routine physical tasks and maneuvers to position patients and equipment.

CThe part-time rate for 2026/27 will be the greater of $1180 per credit or $787 per contact hour, prorated for student enrollment under seven. The approved substitute pay rate is $49.19 per hour during the first week of substituting and the prorated part-time teacher rate for consecutive substitute assignments that exceed one week.
