Summary

Provides direct patient care including the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases and injuries. As a recognized patient-centered medical home (PCMH), every employee is responsible for ensuring the successful implementation of quality, comprehensive patient-centered care as a member of the patients care team. By performing the job expectations described below you will be an active member of the care team, thereby patients are assured access to team-based, coordinated, comprehensive, quality care.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to, the following)

Elicits and records information about patient's medical history utilizing the established electronic medical record software system

  • Orders, oversees and interprets various tests, analyses and diagnostic images
  • Makes diagnosis and prescribes care, treatment, and medications for patient condition
  • Performs specific minor outpatient surgeries and procedures
  • Documents patient charts in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Adheres to all established quality protocols
  • Refers patients to medical specialists or other practitioner for specialized treatment
  • Advises patients concerning diet, hygiene, lifestyle modification and methods for prevention of disease
  • Hospitalizes and treats patients in local hospitals, if required
  • Supervises clinical components at site
  • Assists with medical in-service training for staff
  • Provides back-up coverage for other MedLink sites
  • Serves on appropriate organization committees and teams
  • Participates in community health promotion projects

Pursues activities of community involvement to increase awareness of and insure the positive image of MedLink Georgia and the medical center to which (s)he is assigned

  • Attends local medical conferences and meetings
  • Participates in the corporation's Quality Assurance Program and adheres to all established quality protocols
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

Provides consultation, collaboration/supervision and direction to supportive clinical personnel.

Qualifications

Thorough knowledge of the techniques and skills used in examination, diagnosis and treatment of physically ill patients

Extensive knowledge of recent developments in the field of medicine

Ability to perform physical tasks required in the examination and treatment of patients

Ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with patients, other professional employees and the general public

Demonstrated interest in preventive medicine and health education

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Physicians: Graduation from an approved school of medicine and internship AND completion of an approved residency program and eligible for board certification.

Physician Assistant: Graduate of approved Physician Assistant program AND completion of preceptorship in primary care

Nurse Practitioner: Graduate of approved Nurse Practitioner program AND completion of preceptorship in primary care

Key Responsibilities

The physician provides direct patient care, including diagnosing and treating diseases and injuries while maintaining accurate electronic medical records. They also supervise clinical staff, participate in quality assurance programs, and engage in community health promotion activities.
