  • Position Type: Full-time W-2 or 1099 independent contractor
  • Schedule: Onsite rounding a minimum of four days per week

Position Overview

Psych Health Associates is seeking a licensed psychologist to provide psychological assessment, psychotherapy, and behavioral health support to adults and older adults receiving inpatient rehabilitation at PAM Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Ocoee.

As part of our Integrated Recovery Model, the psychologist will collaborate with psychiatry, rehabilitation physicians, nursing, therapy, and case management to address emotional, behavioral, and cognitive concerns that affect recovery, participation in rehabilitation, and discharge readiness.

This role is ideal for a psychologist who enjoys working with medically complex patients and building strong relationships with an interdisciplinary hospital team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite psychological services a minimum of four days per week, coordinating visits around patients’ rehabilitation schedules and clinical needs.
  • Complete timely initial evaluations and follow-up visits based on referrals, clinical urgency, and program expectations.
  • Assess mood, anxiety, adjustment to illness or disability, coping skills, behavioral concerns, and safety needs.
  • Provide brief, evidence-based psychotherapy to support recovery, emotional well-being, and engagement in rehabilitation.
  • Address barriers to treatment participation, including fear, grief, pain-related distress, reduced motivation, and changes in independence.
  • Conduct cognitive screening when clinically appropriate and within professional training; coordinate referrals for specialized evaluation when indicated.
  • Collaborate with psychiatry and the hospital team on individualized treatment plans and behavioral recommendations.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and care conferences as scheduled.
  • Provide patient and caregiver education related to coping, adjustment, behavioral strategies, and continuity of care.
  • Support discharge planning through recommendations and coordination with appropriate outpatient resources.
  • Complete accurate, timely documentation that supports the services provided, medical necessity, and applicable billing requirements.
  • Contribute to clinical quality reviews, outcome tracking, and ongoing development of the hospital’s behavioral health program.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree, PhD or PsyD, in clinical, counseling, or health psychology.
  • Active, unrestricted Florida psychologist license.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required hospital privileges and payer credentialing.
  • Experience providing psychological assessment and evidence-based psychotherapy to adults.
  • Strong communication, clinical judgment, documentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
  • Ability to provide onsite services in Ocoee at least four days per week.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in inpatient rehabilitation, hospital psychology, health psychology, Gero psychology, or other medically complex settings.
  • Experience supporting patients recovering from stroke, neurological illness or injury, orthopedic conditions, or major changes in physical functioning.
  • Familiarity with brief interventions, behavioral medicine, cognitive screening, and caregiver education.

Schedule and Performance Expectations

The provider will maintain reliable onsite coverage at least four days each week. Total weekly hours and additional responsibilities will be defined in the employment agreement or service contract.

Patient volume expectations will reflect available referrals, medical complexity, evaluation and treatment time, interdisciplinary responsibilities, and documentation needs. Performance will be evaluated through quality of care, responsiveness, documentation timeliness, teamwork, and appropriate productivity.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in clinical, counseling, or health psychology and possess an active, unrestricted Florida psychologist license. Experience in inpatient rehabilitation or medically complex settings is preferred, along with strong clinical documentation and communication skills.
