Job Description

A Pathology Opportunity Designed Around Flexibility and Autonomy

Join Gastro Health’s pathology team in Miami, Florida, and enjoy a highly flexible practice environment with the autonomy to structure your workday around your caseload. This is a single-site opportunity with a collaborative team of pathologists and a strong focus on GI specimens.

About the Opportunity

  • Approximately 150 bottles/cases per day, with some seasonal fluctuation

The Pathologist will be responsible for examining daily tissue biopsies prepared by laboratory personnel, checking the accuracy of laboratory testing, and interpreting results to support patient diagnosis and treatment. The Pathologist works closely with laboratory staff and other members of the pathology team to provide accurate, timely diagnostic results.

Slides are prepared in the morning, allowing the Pathologist significant flexibility in determining when cases are reviewed and finalized throughout the day.

This is not an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities, but rather a general description of the work performed by this position.

Ensuring daily specimens are diagnosed in accordance with College of American Pathologists turnaround time standards.

Ability to work collaboratively with other pathologists, including internal quality assurance and intradepartmental consultation.

  • Capable of maintaining an efficient workflow when diagnosing biopsies.
  • Comply with all safety and regulatory policies.

Candidate Requirements

Medical degree and appropriate licensing; American Board of Pathology Diplomate preferred.

Previous experience dealing with gastrointestinal pathology sign out, including either 1 year of fellowship or 2-5 years of experience in general surgical pathology sign out with gastrointestinal pathology exposure.
