The Pediatric Triage Nurse is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide comprehensive care for the patient. He/she is responsible for clinical assessment of patients' needs and implementing a plan of action to accomplish established goals for all scheduled shifts. The Triage Nurse must be proficient in clinical skills as well as the process involved in maintaining a smooth flow of patients through the unit. The Triage Nurse will understand and utilize established patient care protocols to provide prompt efficient patient care.

Primary Responsibilities

Works full time, on site, to support the clinical operations of AMA-PC

Triages patients over the telephone. Assesses and evaluates their concerns. This includes screening the illness, advising the patient in home self-care when appropriate and facilitating an office visit with physician when necessary. Responsible to decide and coordinate timeliness of visit i. e., emergency room, urgent, this week, next week, etc.

Teaches patients (and parents/guardians/family members) about diagnosis, treatment, medications and diet Provides emotional support to patients and parents. Coordinates patients' needs with all other departments as needed.

Completes all required paperwork and documents care rendered in all appropriate locations

Uses the electronic medical record to document patient care and to communicate with providers and other staff regarding same

  • Refills patient prescriptions adhering to principles of safety and medical knowledge
  • Responsible to assist staff members and to stay current with procedures, policies: and protocols
  • Maintains patient confidentiality
  • Acts as preceptor for new staff members and students
  • Weekend rotation is required

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of approved nursing school
  • Current Massachusetts nursing license
  • BCLS
  • Current CPR certification
  • Knowledge of ambulatory care nursing for adult and/or pediatric illnesses
  • Knowledge of EMR, scheduling and word processing software

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $29.00 to $52.00 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
