Why You Should Apply
As a Rural Outreach Therapist at High Plains Mental Health Center, you'll have the opportunity to be part of something new. We're launching an innovative outreach program designed to bring behavioral health services directly to underserved communities throughout our 20-county service area in Northwest Kansas. The goal is simple: make quality mental health care more accessible to people who might otherwise have limited opportunities to receive it.
If you're looking for a role where you can step outside the traditional clinic setting, embrace a new challenge, and make a lasting difference in rural communities, we'd love to hear from you.
This is more than a traditional therapy position. You'll take your clinical skills on the road, traveling to rural communities to provide therapy, assessments, crisis services, and care coordination where they're needed most. You'll have the unique opportunity to help shape a brand-new program, build relationships in communities, and bring hope to individuals and families who may have gone without accessible care.
And you won't be doing it alone. You'll have a brand-new, fully equipped, Center-operated mobile office designed to bring services directly to the communities you serve, along with a dedicated Patient Navigator/Support Staff member who will travel alongside you.
You don't have to live in Hays. We're looking for a Kansas-licensed therapist who is excited about traveling throughout Northwest Kansas and taking on the challenge of building something meaningful from the ground up.
As a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), High Plains Mental Health Center is committed to high-quality, person-centered care. That commitment includes investing in our clinicians through regular clinical supervision, case consultation, and ongoing professional support. APPLY TODAY!
What You’ll Do
Coordinate your daily schedule and travel plans with your Patient Navigator to bring services to rural communities throughout Northwest Kansas.
Work from a brand-new, fully equipped, Center-operated mobile office instead of sitting in the same clinic every day.
Provide individual, family, and group therapy based on patient needs and scheduled appointments.
Conduct intake assessments, evaluate patient needs, develop treatment plans, and provide crisis intervention when needed.
Partner with your dedicated Patient Navigator to coordinate appointments, connect patients with community resources, address barriers to care, and support follow-through with treatment.
Build relationships with local healthcare providers, hospitals, schools, community organizations, and other service providers to strengthen access to behavioral health care.
Coordinate care with other HPMHC providers and community partners to ensure patients receive appropriate, ongoing support.
- Maintain timely clinical documentation, treatment plans, progress notes, and other required records.
- Adjust your schedule and outreach efforts based on community / client needs.
Participate in clinical supervision, case consultation, and team meetings to stay connected with your clinical team.
