Job Summary
Pediatric Newborn Hospitalist – Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine – East
Tennessee State University- Mild 4-Season Climate, Situated in the Central
Appalachian Highlands.
The Department of Pediatrics at East Tennessee State University (ETSU), Quillen
College of Medicine, and Medical Education Assistance Corporation (MEAC), in
conjunction with Ballad Health seeks a qualified Newborn Pediatric Hospitalist
to join a dynamic team of hospitalists.
Experience should include
* Demonstrated skill in newborn medicine
* Demonstrated skill in Neonatal Resuscitation and stabilization for transport
* Experience in medical education
* Experience in quality improvement is a plus
* Willingness to perform circumcisions
This position will be an ETSU non-tenure, clinical track faculty appointment
(contingent on external funding). Faculty rank will be commensurate with
experience and qualifications. The successful candidate will receive a full
benefits package through ETSU.
Responsibilities include providing nursery services and delivery attendance at
multiple Ballad Health level 1 newborn nurseries in the region, including but
not limited to Franklin Woods Community Hospital, Indian Path Community
Hospital, and Niswonger Children’s Hospital, the region’s primary pediatric
inpatient site. Clinical coverage at Niswonger Children’s Hospital would also
include potential daytime rounding on lower acuity level III NICU
coverage. There is an opportunity for involvement with quality improvement,
patient safety, and medical student and resident education.

Requirements
Candidates must hold an MD or DO degree and be board certified or board eligible in pediatrics at the time of hire. Demonstrated skills in newborn medicine, neonatal resuscitation, and stabilization for transport are required.
