Job Description
The Physician Liaison Manager is responsible for leading the strategic direction, development, and execution of provider engagement and referral growth initiatives across New Jersey. The individual will develop and implement a sales and marketing plan to maintain and grow referrals from providers and physician practices to Astera and Solara. This position will oversee a team of physician liaisons, drive data-informed strategies, collaborate cross-functionally to strengthen provider partnerships, and execute initiatives related to increasing loyalty and preference for Astera among internal and external providers’ referral sources. The Manager will ensure alignment with Astera’s mission, oversee performance and outreach effectiveness, and champion a culture of excellence and collaboration across all liaison activities.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop and execute a comprehensive regional strategy for physician outreach, engagement, and referral growth ·
· Serve as an internal and external business partner focused on practice growth by increasing new patient referrals to Astera, particularly in oncology, and attracting potential patients by identifying target audiences and opportunities for each Astera location, service or physician ·
· Lead, mentor and develop the physician liaison team, providing strategic guidance, performance coaching, and professional development. Establish team goals and priorities, develop capacity, and inspire individuals ·
· Establish and maintain strong relationships with external referring physicians and office staff, health systems and community stakeholders via visit planning and follow-up visits, emails and phone calls. Connect people, groups, and resources inside and outside the organization to build a web of connections with peers, physicians and external providers ·
· Leverage SalesForce, data and physician insights to monitor trends, develop outreach planning, identify areas of opportunities, and track performance metrics ·
· Oversee the planning, documentation, and reporting of all liaison activities in Salesforce to ensure transparency and accountability ·
· Lead and support provider education events, community initiatives, speaking seminars, conferences and professional outreach programs in partnership with marketing and clinical leadership ·
· Create monthly and quarterly reports with referral data, key highlights, opportunities and action plan
· Collaborate with internal teams and marketing team by sharing key insights from the field to align outreach efforts with organizational priorities and partner on strategic opportunities and tactics.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business or Healthcare Administration. MBA in Marketing or a related field preferred
· Minimum of 8-10 years of sales, marketing, physician liaison or business
development experience, preferably in healthcare or pharmaceutical industry
· 3-5 years management experience preferred
· Demonstrated experience in utilizing data, insights, analytics, and behaviors to optimize performance and outcomes
· Strong strategic thinker and cross-functional leader, with ability to collaborate
effectively across various stakeholders and teams
· Proven leadership and team development experience
Compensation: $125K - $160K (Based on Manager/Sr. Manager level)
