Job Description
Join our innovative clinical team as a Part-Time / Per Diem Telehealth Physician. This role offers a unique opportunity to break away from traditional clinic walls and deliver high-impact, compassionate care to frail, elderly, and medically complex patients right where they live - partnering directly with skilled, cross-trained paramedics at the bedside.
The Role
As a Telehealth Physician, you will harness advanced mobile diagnostics and therapeutics to evaluate and treat acute symptoms directly in patients' homes.
You will design targeted treatment plans, identify readmission risks, and empower patients and families through practical health education - significantly curbing avoidable hospitalizations.
Working alongside a responsive interdisciplinary team, you will pair tech agility with clear, compassionate communication in an adaptable, fast-paced environment.
This position offers an exceptional opportunity for Hospitalists and Emergency Medicine Physicians seeking meaningful, flexible clinical work that actively reshapes acute healthcare delivery. Join us in bringing safe, quality care to our patients in their homes.
What You'll Do
Deliver Advanced Virtual Care: Conduct comprehensive telehealth evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment plans for acute and complex patients from the comfort of a remote setting.
Direct High-Acuity In-Home Interventions: Partner in real time with cross-trained field responders (paramedics) at the patient’s bedside to guide hands-on procedures - including bedside ultrasound (POCUS), IV therapy and medication administration, lab draws, point-of-care testing, respiratory support, foley catheter care, and more.
Collaborate Across Clinical Teams: Serve as an expert clinical resource, consultant, and escalation point for our team of Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.
Coordinate Seamless Care Transitions: Facilitate integrated care coordination across external providers, specialists, and referring clinical teams through timely documentation and live clinical handoffs.
Maintain Accurate Documentation: Complete timely, thorough visit documentation within the EHR to ensure continuity of care and clinical excellence.
Scheduling
- Commitment: Minimum of 4 days of availability per month, including at least 1 weekend day
- Hours of Operation: 7 days a week, 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM EST
- Shift Length: 8- to 12-hour shifts
Required Qualifications
Board certification in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Family Practice
Active, unrestricted medical license in Pennsylvania or Louisiana
Preferred Qualifications
- Clinical experience in value-based care models, population health, or remote patient management/telehealth
- Direct collaboration experience with emergency medical services (EMS), paramedics, or acute field-response teams
- Proven track record working effectively within multidisciplinary clinical teams (e. g., APPs, care managers)
- Demonstrated cross-cultural competence and deep familiarity with addressing social determinants of health (SDOH)
- Proficiency navigating diverse Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
Special Considerations
Licensing & Credentialing Collaboration: Willingness to obtain and maintain multi-state medical licenses. While myLaurel coordinates and covers the application process, candidates must respond promptly with required documentation (e. g., copies of credentials, fingerprinting, notarized forms).
Dedicated Remote Workspace: Ability to maintain a professional, secure home office setting during clinical shifts that meets HIPAA standards—including a private, quiet space, high-speed and reliable internet, proper lighting, and professional clinical attire.
Compliance & Onboarding: Commitment to completing all required training modules, compliance courses, and clinical onboarding materials in a timely manner.
$75 - $75 an hour
Compensation includes a base rate of $75/hour, plus an incentive of $75 per patient starting with the fifth patient seen per shift.
