In each of our hospitals, the Behavioral Health Attendant role exists to maintain a safe environment for the patients to whom the Observer is assigned to constantly monitor without distraction. Patients requiring observers are those who are considered high-risk either to themselves or others.

The Behavioral Health Attendant is responsible for maintaining constant, unobstructed observation of high-risk patients to ensure their safety. They must document observations, report behavioral changes to the Registered Nurse, and assist with basic patient mobilization and safety sweeps.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and possess a valid American Heart BLS certification. Strong communication skills and the ability to complete facility-provided training on patient care and safety are required.
