About the Opportunity
KARE CENTER in Ann Arbor, MI is seeking a skilled and compassionate Psychiatrist (MD) to join our growing multidisciplinary healthcare team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, evidence-based treatment, and ongoing mental health management for a diverse patient population. You will work alongside primary care providers, therapists, and specialists to deliver integrated, whole-person care in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including mental status examinations, diagnostic interviews, and psychosocial assessments.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy referrals, and community resources.
Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitoring efficacy and adjusting regimens as clinically appropriate.
Provide crisis intervention and acute psychiatric stabilization for patients in need of urgent mental health services.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams including therapists, social workers, PCPs, and specialists to coordinate patient care.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) system in compliance with regulatory standards.
Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment options, medication management, and coping strategies.
Participate in case conferences, peer consultations, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical outcomes.
Provide consultations to other departments or referring providers as needed.
Stay current with advances in psychiatric medicine through continuing medical education (CME) and evidence-based practice updates.
- Qualifications & Requirements
- Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Psychiatry residency program.
- Active and unrestricted Michigan medical license (or eligibility to obtain).
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry (ABPN).
- Valid DEA license for controlled substance prescribing.
1-3 years of clinical psychiatry experience preferred; new graduates with strong training are encouraged to apply.
- Proficiency with electronic health record systems.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and clinical documentation skills.
- Commitment to culturally competent, patient-centered, trauma-informed care.

This is a hybrid role with telehealth as a primary pilot program. It is a heavy telemedicine platform with office hours as well.
Requirements
Candidates must hold an MD or DO degree, complete an ACGME-accredited residency, and possess an active Michigan medical license. Board certification in Psychiatry and a valid DEA license are required.
