Company Description
At Henry Ford Health, we're committed to advancing health and improving lives for the millions of people we serve across Michigan and around the world. As one of the nation's leading academic health systems, we provide a comprehensive continuum of care that includes primary and preventive services, specialty and complex care, virtual care, pharmacy, home health, eye care, health insurance, and more. With 12 hospitals and hundreds of ambulatory care locations, including former Ascension Southeast Michigan and Flint Region facilities, our growing network expands access to exceptional care in the communities we serve.

Headquartered in Detroit, Henry Ford Health is helping shape the future of healthcare through the transformative Future of Health: Detroit initiative, a $3 billion investment that is redefining our academic healthcare campus and advancing innovation, research, education, and community impact.

Our work is grounded in purpose, collaboration, and belonging. We empower team members to grow their careers, contribute innovative ideas, and make a meaningful difference every day. Whether you're caring for patients, supporting operations, conducting research, or driving new solutions, you'll be part of a team united by a shared mission: delivering exceptional care, advancing health outcomes, and building healthier communities for all.
Job Description
The Opportunity: A World-Class Partnership to Define the Future of Theranostics
Henry Ford Health and BAMF Health are joining forces to redefine what is possible in theranostics and precision medicine. Together, we will unite the scale, clinical excellence, academic strength and community reach of one of the nation’s leading health systems with BAMF Health’s pioneering expertise in a vertically integrated theranostics model.
The result is a $50 million commitment to establish a Comprehensive Theranostics Center in downtown Detroit — a fully integrated site bringing together advanced molecular imaging, radiopharmaceutical therapy, radiopharmacy manufacturing and distribution, and clinical research in a patient-centered model.
The Center is scheduled to open in December of 2027, and Henry Ford Health and BAMF Health are seeking an exceptional physician leader to serve as the Center’s Medical Director and help bring this vision to life. This is not a role built around maintaining what already exists. It is a unique opportunity to build a nationally distinctive theranostics program from the ground up — to shape its vision, establish its culture, bring together exceptional people and expertise, and help define how this emerging field will be delivered, studied and advanced.
The Medical Director will be at the center of this transformation, with the opportunity to help shape the future of theranostics in Detroit and across Michigan, while contributing to the evolution of the field on a national stage.
The Role
The Comprehensive Theranostics Center Medical Director will be the physician leader at the center of this transformation, helping translate the vision of Henry Ford Health and BAMF Health into a high-performing, nationally distinctive program.
This is a highly visible and strategically important leadership role at the intersection of clinical care, innovation, research, operations and growth. The Medical Director will help define the Center’s clinical vision and identity while building the culture, partnerships and multidisciplinary team required to deliver on its promise.
The Medical Director will also serve as a prominent ambassador for the Center, representing its vision and impact to physicians, researchers, industry partners, community stakeholders and national leaders in theranostics and precision medicine.
This is an opportunity for a physician leader to have a meaningful hand in shaping a program from its earliest stages, establishing the standards, culture and clinical model that will define the Center for years to come.
Key Responsibilities – Comprehensive Theranostics Center Site Medical Director
Clinical Leadership & Program Development
Provide physician leadership and clinical oversight for the Comprehensive Theranostics Center.
Lead development of the initial prostate and neuroendocrine cancer programs, with a strategic vision for expansion into additional cancers and disease areas.
Foster multidisciplinary collaboration across radiation oncology, medical oncology, urology, nuclear medicine, radiology, pharmacy, and other relevant specialties.
Operational Leadership & Performance
Develop and implement the infrastructure, workflows, staffing models and processes required for successful Center operations.
Establish clear clinical and operational performance expectations and accountability.
Partner with operational and financial leaders to support the Center’s long-term sustainability and growth.
Research, Innovation & Clinical Trials
Advance the Center as a destination for clinical research, innovation and emerging radiopharmaceutical therapies.
Partner with Henry Ford Health investigators, BAMF RadioNexus, pharmaceutical sponsors and academic collaborators to expand clinical trial opportunities.
Identify opportunities to advance the Center’s research portfolio and national leadership in theranostics.
Build strong connections between clinical care, cancer research and the broader Henry Ford Health–Michigan State University research ecosystem.
Workforce, Education & Talent Development
Recruit, develop and retain a high-performing multidisciplinary clinical and academic team.
Support education and training opportunities for physicians, advanced practice providers, trainees and other health care professionals.
Develop future leaders in theranostics and precision medicine.
Key Responsibilities – Clinical Radiation Oncologist
The successful applicant will assist in the development and enhancement of the department's ability to provide clinical expertise in the multidisciplinary care of patients. Faculty are also expected to participate in clinical trials, research, and education. This is an exciting opportunity to practice in a cutting-edge clinical environment, engage in clinical and/or translational research and teach. Our team works closely together to foster a positive culture and a collegial work environment. Physician scientists may benefit from start-up support.
The department includes cutting-edge technologies, including both MR- and CT-guided adaptive capabilities, HDR brachytherapy, SRS/SBRT, hyperthermia, TBI/TSET, and a dedicated MR simulator. All campuses are integrated with Eclipse/ARIA on a single database. Physics QA procedures are standardized across all sites. The department includes strong radiation physics and biology divisions actively engaged in translational research, such as AI, FLASH and gene therapy.
Why Now: A Defining Moment for Henry Ford Health and Detroit
There may be no more exciting time to join Henry Ford Health.
Henry Ford Health is in the midst of a transformational period of growth, investment and innovation that is reshaping the health care, research and economic landscape of the city. At the center of this transformation is Future of Health, a $3 billion investment bringing together Henry Ford Health, Michigan State University, Tom Gores and the Detroit Pistons, the Gilbert Family Foundation and Shirley Ryan AbilityLab to create a new destination for health, science, research, innovation and economic growth in Detroit.
A cornerstone of the Future of Health is the development of a new academic hospital campus, including a 20-story, 1.2-million-square-foot patient tower that will open in 2029. The campus will be closely connected to the new Henry Ford + Michigan State University Research Center, strengthening the connection between world-class patient care, biomedical research, education and discovery.
The Comprehensive Theranostics Center will be an important part of this emerging ecosystem, located less than five miles from the new academic hospital campus in the heart of downtown Detroit.
