The individual in this role provides direct patient care, including the performance of image-guided procedures, management of pre- and post-procedural care, and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team of interventional radiologists, clinical staff, and administrative staff.

The position requires strong procedural experience, excellent clinical judgment, and a passion and commitment for providing high-quality outpatient care. This role is performed under the direct supervision of the Medical Director and is critical to upholding the mission, vision, and values of the Practice. Essential Duties and

Responsibilities

Collaborate directly with Interventional Radiologists based on established privileges and protocols to provide procedural and clinical care. Participate in the triage and coordination of patient referrals for interventional services.

Assess patients, interpret signs and symptoms, and initiate diagnostic and therapeutic interventions within scope of practice as allowed by licensure and protocols. Develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the supervising physician.

Independently or under physician supervision, perform outpatient interventional procedures. Review medical records to verify that pre-procedure requirements and clinical standards are met.

Perform comprehensive pre-procedure evaluations, including history and physical examination, diagnostic test review, and risk assessment. Document clinical encounters and procedural details in the electronic medical record.

Ensure patient safety during and after procedures through continuous monitoring of EKG, vital signs, and clinical status, document thorough post-procedural assessments and care. Promptly communicate significant clinical changes or findings to supervising physicians to support timely decision-making and patient care.

Provide emergency response based on ACLS guidelines when required. Contribute to quality improvement efforts, protocol development, and continuing education initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

Qualifications/Requirements: 1. Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Virginia. 2. Submits a protocol acceptable to the Virginia Board of Medicine. 3. Submits evidence of successful completion of a minimum of 35 hours of acceptable training to the board in pharmacology. 4.

Requires a minimum of two years of experience in a similar position. 5. Active BLS and ACLS certification required within 90 days of start date. 6. Requires strong working knowledge of computer software/systems. 7. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Physical Demands: 1.

Prolonged periods of standing, including while wearing lead aprons and radiation protection apparel. 2. Substantial physical dexterity, primarily hand and fingers. 3. Requires moderate lifting of weight up to 35 pounds. 4. Requires periodic workdays in excess of nine hours. 5. Exposure to needle sticks and blood borne or air borne pathogens.
