Job DetailsJob Location: BCC North Star - Bridgeport, CT 06604SUMMARY: In accordance with RNP's Mission Statement, Philosophy of Client Care and Code of Ethics as stated in the Personnel Policies and under the supervision of the Clinical Coordinator, counsels individuals and/or groups regarding substance abuse problems and co-occurring disorders, and develops and implements a therapeutic treatment plan by performing the following duties. HOURS: Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 3:30 pm SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: All duties are subject to accommodation in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

• Completes clinical contacts with assigned clients in the form of individual therapy and group counseling.
• Takes lead role in case management needs of assigned cases.
• Implements therapeutic treatment using approved methods of planning, counseling, case management and crisis intervention to assist clients in overcoming substance abuse disorders and other co-occurring issues.
• Prepares and maintains records on assigned caseload and issues reports, according to Agency and regulatory body standards.
• Ability to complete documentation in a timely manner.
• Consults with Clinical Coordinator, Medical Doctor, Psychiatric staff or other specialists concerning treatment plan and amends plan as directed.
• Provides information and education to individuals, families and groups concerning substance abuse and mental health disorders (co-occurring disorder).
• Refers clients to supportive services to supplement treatment and counseling.
• Is an Agency approved driver.
• Provides coverage support for administrative positions as needed.
• Assumes all other appropriate duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS:
• Excellent communication skills and customer service representation.
• Knowledge of principles and techniques of counseling.
• Knowledge of American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) requirements and core principles.
• Ability to gather, analyze and evaluate information pertinent to the care of clients.
• Ability to meet Agency and regulatory body standards of documentation.
• Knowledge of the physical, psychological, social and economic effects of substance abuse, homelessness, medical and mental health issues.
• Knowledge of community resources. Considerable knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding client confidentiality.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships.
• Ability to project a professional image. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
• Licensed alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) or Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC)
• Bachelor's degree in the behavioral sciences and two (2) years experience in counseling preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid Connecticut driver's license may be required Qualifications
