Why is this Respiratory Therapist role different?

At Apria, you'll experience a unique blend of clinical autonomy, meaningful patient interaction, and supportive team collaboration. This role offers the opportunity to support patients across a large service area while maintaining a primarily branch-based schedule. You'll play a key role in helping patients transition safely from hospital to home through respiratory equipment setup, education, and ongoing clinical support.

Working alongside a strong team of Respiratory Therapists across Illinois, you'll enjoy a collaborative environment while developing expertise in home respiratory care and DME.

• Key Highlights
• Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.
• Work Arrangement: On-site; approximately 90% office and 10% field.
• Territory Coverage: Approximately 90–100-mile radius surrounding Collinsville.
• Travel: Territory remains within Illinois and does not extend into Missouri.

Salary Range

$36.00 - $40.00 per hour. Compensation offered may vary based on experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.

On-Call Transparency

• Shared on-call responsibilities with all Illinois branches.
• Rotation occurs approximately every 8th week.
• Includes phone support and patient assistance as needed.

What You'll Do

• Conduct home visits to perform oxygen, CPAP/BiPAP, and ventilation equipment setups and follow‑ups
• Educate patients and caregivers on equipment use, cleaning, troubleshooting, and maintenance
• Assess patient needs, document care delivered, and escalate concerns appropriately
• Respond to hospital discharge requests and support patient needs
• Collaborating with physicians, case managers, and internal branch teams

Maintain Accurate Documentation Using iPad/laptop

• Set up and operate various types of respiratory care equipment, including, but not limited to, oxygen therapy, nebulization therapy, apnea monitoring, suctioning, PAP, invasive and non-invasive ventilation
• Inspects and tests equipment to ensure proper operating condition
• Perform clinical assessments and tests such as pulse oximetry, ETCO2, spirometry and gathering vital signs
• Performs other duties as required

What We Look For

• Respiratory Therapist with an active IL RT license.
• Ability to stand, lift, push and/or pull objects ranging from 10 – 50 lbs.
• Valid driver's license.
• Comfortable using mobile technology, navigation tools, and digital documentation.
• Preferred: Minimum 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist in the DME industry.
• Experience with home respiratory equipment, including CPAP, BiPAP, ventilators, and oxygen therapy.
• Familiarity with patient education and home-based respiratory care.

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
• Certificates, licenses, registrations or professional designations
• Hold a current RCP license in the state of practice (or states that the location covers) if that state requires an RCP license to allow the practice of respiratory therapy
• Hold a current CPR Certification
• Hold all applicable licensure in good standing for all states of practice
