Key Responsibilities

The Registered Respiratory Therapist provides diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care to patients with cardiopulmonary problems under clinical supervision, involving assessing patient status and reviewing physician orders to determine appropriate therapy requirements. Key duties include administering respiratory medications, managing airways, performing arterial punctures, operating specialized equipment like mechanical ventilators, and educating patients and families.

Requirements

Candidates must possess a current New York State Respiratory Therapist license, along with BLS and PALS certifications, and meet all educational requirements for a Registered Respiratory Therapist as mandated by the National Board for Respiratory Care. Essential abilities include knowledge of medical terminology and respiratory procedures, and the physical capacity to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 pounds.
