Job description

Associate Veterinarian – General Practice & Urgent Care
Location: San Antonio Area, TX
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $145,000–$175,000 base salary, depending on experience, plus production opportunities
Looking for more variety than a traditional general practice schedule without moving into full emergency medicine?
DVM Focus is partnering with an established small animal practice in the San Antonio area seeking an Associate Veterinarian for a hybrid general practice + urgent care role. This opportunity offers a mix of preventative medicine, diagnostics, routine appointments, and same-day cases in a collaborative environment with structured hours and strong clinical support.
For a veterinarian who enjoys variety, appreciates a later-start schedule, and wants to practice high-quality medicine while still protecting life outside of work, this could be a very appealing fit.
What You’ll Find
A blend of general practice and urgent care medicine
A consistent schedule with a later start and structured end time
Wellness visits, preventative care, diagnostics, and same-day cases
No expectation of overnight hospitalization
Modern diagnostic capabilities and a well-equipped hospital
Collaborative doctors and experienced support staff
$145,000–$175,000 base salary, depending on experience, plus production opportunities
Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits
Paid time off and continuing education support
Mentorship and professional development opportunities
A practice culture that values teamwork and work-life balance
Why San Antonio?
San Antonio offers the amenities of a major city with a more approachable cost of living than many large U. S. metros. The area offers an active food and cultural scene, year-round events, outdoor recreation, and easy access to the Texas Hill Country.
For weekends away, Austin, Hill Country destinations, and other parts of Central Texas are within easy reach, while San Antonio itself offers plenty to explore without leaving the city.
We’d Love to Meet a Veterinarian Who
Holds a DVM or equivalent veterinary degree
Is licensed in Texas or able to obtain Texas licensure
Is comfortable managing both routine appointments and same-day urgent cases
Enjoys a varied caseload
Values collaboration, communication, and high-quality medicine
Wants to contribute to a positive, team-oriented practice environment
DEA licensure and USDA accreditation should be current or obtainable after hire.
