Key Responsibilities
- Interview patients about symptoms and complaints and determine whether a psychiatric disorder has a physiological or emotional basis.
- Diagnose patient conditions and their causes.
- Screen patients for physical illness and analyze explanations for psychiatric illness, such as developmental issues, family dysfunction, genetics, neurological trauma or social or cultural problems.
- Assessment of risk factors for mental illness.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Nursing and completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program required.
- Current licensure and Certificate of Authority to practice as a nurse practitioner in the state of Ohio required; PMHNP-BC preferred.
- BLS & ACLS certification.
- 2+ years' experience in behavioral health environment preferred.
