Key Responsibilities

  • Interview patients about symptoms and complaints and determine whether a psychiatric disorder has a physiological or emotional basis.
  • Diagnose patient conditions and their causes.
  • Screen patients for physical illness and analyze explanations for psychiatric illness, such as developmental issues, family dysfunction, genetics, neurological trauma or social or cultural problems.
  • Assessment of risk factors for mental illness.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Nursing and completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program required.
  • Current licensure and Certificate of Authority to practice as a nurse practitioner in the state of Ohio required; PMHNP-BC preferred.
  • BLS & ACLS certification.
  • 2+ years' experience in behavioral health environment preferred.
