Job Description
The Department of Ambulatory Care Services at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Assistant Director of Nursing/Nurse Practitioner, Suite G OB-GYN. The successful candidate will:
- Provide primary care services to individuals and families; this will include care for incumbents own panel of patients, as well as seeing walk-in patients of the practice as needed.
- Document all care provided in the patients medical records.
- Develop further, maintain/manage patient care panel with participation in managed care programs and other direct patient care programs as applicable.
- On a daily bases, review all laboratory and radiology reports to identify abnormal results for urgent follow up; ensure that patients are contacted to arrange additional care and that their primary providers are notified.
- Participate in and provide departmental and Family Medicine educational activities to medial students and allied health professional students.
- Participate in hospital and departmental health fairs, community education events and speak to community groups, when requested.
Key Responsibilities
The Nurse Practitioner will provide primary care services to a panel of patients and walk-in clients while managing medical records and urgent follow-ups for lab and radiology results. Additionally, the role involves participating in educational activities for students and representing the department at community health events.
Requirements
Candidates must hold a Master of Science Degree in Nursing and be a New York State Registered Nurse with Family Nurse Practitioner certification. A BCLS certification is required, and at least two years of relevant clinical experience is preferred.
