Position Summary

The Executive Director, Global Medical Strategy (Mood Disorder Medical Product Lead (MPL)) Lead plays a critical leadership role within the Global Medical Psychiatry leadership team.

This position provides leadership for medical strategy and oversees the worldwide execution of medical activities for Global Medical Psychiatry, by partnering with Medical team to align Psychiatry/MDD strategy by fostering cross-functional collaboration with key stakeholders, including Commercial, Research and Development, Global Drug Development, HEOR, Regulatory Affairs, and other global medical stakeholders.

The Executive Director will lead a team of Medical Strategy leads and report directly to the VP, Global Medical Neuroscience, Psychiatry Head.

Key Responsibilities

Global Medical Leadership: Lead and develop the psychiatry, mood disorder medical strategy team, overseeing global medical planning and execution for new launches and ongoing commercialization.

Medical Strategy Execution: Develop, communicate, and execute the worldwide medical strategy plan for psychiatry, Mood Disorder.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Medical SMEs, Brand teams, Local Medical leads, and key cross-functional partners (Commercial, Regulatory, Safety, Labeling, Supply & Manufacturing, Quality & Compliance).

Late-Life Cycle Activities: Lead late-life cycle medical activities and provide maintenance support (e. g., labeling, safety, quality, deletions) for non-commercialized brands.

Budget Management: Request and manage the medical budget to ensure execution within defined targets.

Regional Strategy: Lead regional medical affairs strategies in collaboration with clinical development, market access, and commercial colleagues, focusing on Major Markets and Intercontinental regions.

Congress and Field Medical Plans: Provide expertise in executing congress strategies, field medical plans, home office training, and other medical strategies.

Expert Opinion: Offer expert insights on psychiatry trends, diagnosis, treatment options, and unmet medical needs to inform key decisions.

Training and Support: Partner with Training and Learning Team to oversee training curriculum and content for markets and/or field medical associates.

Medical Data Generation: Partner with the medical matrix team to develop and execute the medical data generation plan, including Phase 4 and ISR planning, publication plans, and establishing BMS as a leader in psychiatry, Mood Disorder.

KOL Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders, professional societies, and organizations through scientific dialogue.

Advisory Meetings: Lead and participate in worldwide advisory meetings with key opinion leaders.

Qualifications & Experience

Education: Advanced degree (PhD, MD, DO, NP, PA, PharmD etc.) in a scientific discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: A minimum of 10-15+ years of direct professional experience in pharmaceutical development within life sciences or biopharmaceuticals. Minimum 4 years of medical affairs (WW or US) specific experience in Psychiatry/mood disorder.

Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the biopharma drug development and commercialization process. Experience in clinical research and development, or medical affairs in Psychiatry is preferred.

• Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated strength in understanding overarching company goals, performing strategic assessments, and developing clearly framed choices and recommendations.
• Business Development: Experience with evaluating business development opportunities is preferred.
• Global Experience: US or global experience is preferred.
• Cross-Functional Experience: Experience working across a range of medical and/or clinical development roles is a plus.
• Analytical Skills: Experience in analytics, particularly in relation to product launches.

Project Management: Experience in project and/or portfolio management with the ability to develop clear action plans and execute them.

Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build relationships, influence, and drive organizational engagement at all levels.

Leadership: Ability to lead strategically, drive performance, build alignment, negotiate, and collaborate.

Communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills, high-level negotiation skills, and the ability to resolve conflict constructively. Highly effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

People Management: Proven track record of effective people management, including coaching, motivating, and development planning in a multicultural environment.

Location: Role is based in Princeton Pike or Madison, NJ, as required.

Ability to travel globally (frequent travel will be required)

Compensation Overview

$254,530 - $308,434

The starting pay range(s) listed above is for full-time employees (FTE). You may also be eligible for additional discretionary incentive cash and stock opportunities.

We determine starting pay thoughtfully – carefully considering the nature of the role, required skills, work location, schedule and the knowledge and experience you bring. Final compensation is guided by pay equity principles and applicable employment laws.

Compensation programs are reviewed on an ongoing basis and may be adjusted over time to reflect evolving market factors, and individual, team or Company performance.

U.S.-based exempt employees are eligible for Flexible Time Off (FTO), which provides paid time off without a set accrual limit, subject to manager approval, along with 11 paid company holidays each year.

Non-exempt employees, RayzeBio employees, and employees located in Puerto Rico receive 160 hours of paid vacation annually for new hires (subject to manager approval), 11 paid company holidays, and 3 optional holidays.

Depending on eligibility, employees may also have access to additional time-off benefits, including paid sick leave, up to two paid volunteer days per year, summer hours flexibility, and leaves of absence for medical, personal, parental, caregiver, bereavement, or military needs. Eligible employees also enjoy an annual Global Shutdown between Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
