Role Overview

As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting Physical Therapists to deliver treatments that enhance patient mobility, alleviate pain, and reduce physical disabilities. Your work will directly contribute to improving the quality of life for our patients, helping them regain independence and achieve their rehabilitation goals.

What You Will Do

• Assist Physical Therapists in implementing treatment plans to improve patient mobility and function.
• Provide hands-on care to relieve pain and prevent physical disabilities.
• Support patients in achieving their rehabilitation goals through guided exercises and activities.
• Document patient progress and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.
• Ensure a safe and supportive environment for patient recovery.

What You Will Need

Required Qualifications

• Physical Therapist Assistant Associate's degree from a Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) accredited program.
• Current State of Michigan licensure.
• Current CPR certification (or obtain within 90 days of hire).

Successful completion of FIM certification exam with a score of at least 80% within 90 days of hire and annually thereafter.

About Henry Ford Jackson Hospital At Home Henry Ford Jackson Hospital At Home provides compassionate, personalized health care services in the comfort of patients’ homes. Our interdisciplinary team works closely with physicians to deliver care after injury, surgery, or throughout chronic illness management.

Services include home health care (aides, nursing, therapy, medical social work), remote monitoring for chronic conditions, and access to 24/7 home medical equipment support. We also offer advanced palliative care through our AIM program, as well as hospice care focused on maximizing comfort and quality of life.

General Summary

The Physical Therapist provides direct patient care utilizing appropriate age-specific standards of practice for physical therapists in regard to all patient populations served.

Works independently and collaborates well with other team members in obtaining patient-centered goals within Henry Ford Health.

Education Required

Graduate from an accredited Physical Therapy program, Masters or Doctorate degree required.

Experience Required

• One year experience providing physical therapy in healthcare setting required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Physical Therapist preferred.
• Experience in homecare preferred.

License Required

Current Michigan licensure for Physical Therapy required. Valid Michigan driver’s license and dependable vehicle insured as required by the State of Michigan required.
