About Boston Prep
Boston Prep is a college-preparatory charter public district, made up of a single-site middle and high school. In 2026-2027, our community will include 700 students in grades 6-12, nearly 500 alumni, over 150 faculty members, and hundreds of families. The majority of our students and families reside in Dorchester, Roxbury, Mattapan, and Hyde Park. As a charter public school, we welcome all students via an impartial public lottery, and hold the same high expectations and ambitions for all of our students, including those with special needs and English language learners.

As an Occupational Therapist, you believe in creating an educational experience where students are able to see themselves reflected in the content of your class.

Key Responsibilities of the role

Provide direct support and consultation for students with occupational therapy needs Maintain case load of students Diagnostic therapy and subsequent delivery of services as stated in IEPs Consult with staff and parents as needed Review information and records to determine appropriate assessment battery Perform all initial and Re-evaluations Compile clinical written evaluation reports according to testing timelines Participate in IEP meetings as needed; make specific recommendations, report progress and present evaluation findings Keep daily therapy logs and track service delivery in accordance with school systems Maintain parent communication log, as needed, in cooperation with other school staff (i. e., phone log, e-mail, etc.) Maintain collaborative communication with staff to ensure consistent service delivery Collaborate with all student service providers to identify and implement student accommodations in a variety of environments Attend staff meetings, in-service training, parent meetings, student-centered staff meetings Compile individual student progress reports as required and within estimated timelines Review of all cumulative records of assigned students including: IEPs, evaluations, progress notes, status reports, medical background, etc. Maintain a respectful, positive, student centered professional attitude Attend to assigned duties Reporting to Director of Support Services

Classroom Management, Family Partnership, and School Culture Building

Communicating frequently with students, families, and school leaders around academic and behavioral progress Attending occasional after-school events Partnering with team members, students and families, to actively uproot racism and inequality in our community Modeling empathy, embodying the mindset that “kids do well if they can” Upholding school and grade level systems and structures with fidelity Assuming extracurricular responsibilities, if desired

Additional Expectations and Responsibilities

Additional responsibilities, including but not limited to, may involve tasks such as supervising lunch periods, managing swipe and front desk duties, and covering classes in the absence of other staff members Demonstrates flexibility and a commitment to the school's mission by undertaking additional responsibilities and contributing to school-wide initiatives as needed, even when not explicitly outlined in the job description, to support the overall success of the school community

Education, Qualifications, and Certifications/Licensure

B. S. in Occupational Therapy Massachusetts License as Occupational Therapy

Physical Demands and Work Environmental Factors

Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. Capability to lift up to 25 pounds. Capacity to use a computer and other classroom technology. Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
