The Specialty Pharmacist acts as the clinical lead for the specialty pharmacy program, monitoring patient response to medication therapy and consulting with providers for necessary adjustments. This role involves supervising pharmacy technicians and/or prior authorization coordinators while ensuring efficient, quality care within Mercyhealth clinics and retail pharmacy settings.
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited Pharmacy program, with completion of an ASHP Accredited Residency training program preferred, and must hold or be eligible for a Pharmacist license in Illinois and/or Wisconsin. Essential skills include knowledge of retail pharmacy operations, prior authorization processes, strong accuracy, and excellent analytical skills for dosage calculations.
