Job Description

Job Title: Inpatient Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) – Pediatric Subspecialties (Limited-Term)

Position Overview Join two of our dynamic subspecialty medical hospitalist teams providing comprehensive inpatient care across a diverse pediatric continuum—from neonates to young adults. In this role, you will manage complex diagnoses and chronic conditions across high-acuity patient populations, including Inpatient Pulmonary, Inpatient Nephrology, Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU), and Cardiac Failure & Transplant.

We are seeking an adaptable, collaborative Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Beyond clinical care, you will actively participate in education, interdisciplinary consultation, research, and quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care: Practice autonomously and collaboratively to deliver high-quality inpatient care, including patient assessment, diagnostic reasoning, treatment initiation, procedures, and ongoing evaluation.

Complex Case Management: Oversee diverse pediatric populations with multi-system chronic conditions and acute medical needs.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Serve as a clinical liaison, educator, and consultant across specialty teams to optimize clinical practice and care delivery.

Schedule & Work Structure

This position utilizes a flexible self-scheduling model planned in 3-month blocks, providing 6 weeks of advance notice for predictable work-life planning.

Shift Distribution: Mix of days and nights, with approximately 60% of shifts covering weekends and night shifts.

Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Night Shift: 5:30 PM – 7:30 AM

Holiday Coverage: Equitable distribution consisting of one major winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s) and one major summer holiday (Memorial Day, 4th of July, or Labor Day) annually.

Required Education and Experience

Master's degree in nursing with a concentration in a pediatric or family nurse practitioner program OR graduate of a nationally accredited physician assistant program.

One year work experience in a pediatric or family focused clinical area.

Required Credentials

  • For Nurse Practitioners:
  • Active, unencumbered registered nurse and advanced registered nurse practitioner licensure in the State of Washington.
  • Current national certification as a pediatric or family nurse practitioner

For Physician Assistants

  • Active, unencumbered physician assistant licensure in the State of Washington
  • Initial certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants

For All Providers

Active Drug Enforcement Authority Registration

Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Professionals is required at time of hire and to be maintained continuously throughout employment. American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) will also be accepted in lieu of BLS for Healthcare Professionals.

Some clinical locations may require American Heart Association Pediatric Life Support training and continuous maintenance of certification.

Active clinical privileges as an Allied Health Provider at Seattle Children's Hospital must be secured prior to time of hire and must be maintained in good standing and in compliance with all medical staff bylaws, continuously throughout employment.

Preferred

  • Two years experience in advanced practice provider role
  • Two years experience in pediatric health care

Compensation Range

$137,321.42 - $201,961.62 per year

Note: This position is currently eligible for an off-shift premium of up to 12% which would increase the total compensation of this role by an additional $16,478 to $24,235 per year.

Salary Information

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.

Candidates must hold a Master's degree in nursing or be a graduate of an accredited physician assistant program with at least one year of pediatric experience. Current Washington state licensure and relevant certifications such as BLS or PALS are mandatory for the role.
